we have had this kart since 2021 with little to no issues. About a year ago for no apparent reason the idle speed adjusted itself way high, not even close to the idle adjuster screw. Couldnt fiqure out what the issue was but the only problem was it couldnt be shifted into gear from neutral so I just put in gear before starting, worked fine but idle still high. the other day my grandson was riding it, went over a small jump and heard a loud "crack" he shut it off and we towed it up. I changed the gear oil ( the old was creamy white looked nothing like the new 80w). I played with the throttle cable that was twisted and the gas pedal mounting bolt and got the idle speed down to a much better speed. Started it up, put it in gear, nothing fwd or rev. Not sure where to go from here. thanks.

the creamy oil generally indicates water in the oil.....and really, really old and bad. regarding the gears, Go back in the rear to the transmission, and look to see if when you move the shifter,,,,the trans arm actually moves or not....Maybe remove the cable from the trans and see if you can move the arm manually from "forward " to " reverse" with your hand. That will at least eliminate a bad cable or not.

The linkage does move but the very "loose" in either position, thought it should be tightish at least the in gear positions.
