We bought this go kart 2 years ago for our grandkids as a Christmas present. It has been nothing but trouble. It sputtered from the very beginning and had to have it in the shop. With a rebuilt carburetor(so they said), and a lecture that the next time it would be on us, it didn't run long until we had to take it back again. We have always put the Staybil in the gas, like they told us. Every time we have had it out, something went wrong. It has been driven on flat land in our farm field. No abuse and very few miles on it. Looks brand new, kept in a closed in garage. The last time we had it out it started smoking and the wires burned where the wires go into the battery. It has less than 40 miles on it, due to the not being able to ride it. We have(now) a 17, 15, 13, and 7 year old that would love to get some use out of it. Thanks for anyone who has any idea why this is such lemon.

Sounds like a Monday vehicle, thrown together by people who weren't really paying attention to what they were doing but nothing is unfixable; I'm sure, with the correct advice & a little work on your part, it'll be running like it should in no time...

It was ordered the week before Christmas and was ready to be picked up on Christmas Eve 2012. The dealer we bought it from put it together there. Each time we take it in, we feel like it is OUR fault. We've even been told that "these go karts need to be ridden a LOT to keep them running good". Well, how can we when it doesn't run but a couple of times around the field? Then, it's back to the shop again.
Does anyone know why it is smoking and burning the wires? Thanks

You already answered that.....maybe something else was smoking that day.....

Welcome to the forum and we can certainly (collectively) help you out but we will probably need more information and possibly pics.....

Please fill out your location in your profile.....it helps in many aspects.....

Right off the bat....what kind of engine? ?? Smoking burning which wires where????? It may take just a little while.....but usually....these are simple and easily correctable problems.....the hard part is finding them ....
