Gy6 carbs are easily replaceable. Very cheap on ebay. I have seen one that was pressed or riveted together, but i just replaced it when i had a problem. Is the carb bowl riveted or just the top? You need to get the bowl off and remove and clean the jets.

I had same problem, replace the carb.

I had same problem with a 2014 Trailmaster buggy. The solution was to replace the carb. Also make sure your CDI is DC.

and to revive a month and a half old thread those are snap screws. They were screwed in at the factory and then the head snapped off. I had to take mine apart and clean clogged jets after it sitting up for a year because the ignition keyswitch failed and there are 2 ways you can take them apart.

1. Go get a screw extractor set, number 1 or number 2 bit and a 5/64 drill bit. Might want to buy 2 as I snapped my first one.

2. After number one fails you with 2 screws left just take a dremel with a cutting wheel on it and very carefully cut the head flush with the carb body by grinding with the cutting wheel. Both the float covers and the diaphragm cover will pop off.

You can then take a pair of pliers and get the rest of the screws out. Replace with M4x0.7 size metric screws. I think I ended up using maybe in inch long screw for every one of them.

That sounds like a gy6 motor... I ordered a cdi with no reviews limiter and coil pack and carb for it? Total was $34, the carb on the buggy I'm working on to my surprise was NOT tamperproof like the one you pictured... however you can cut grooves into those screws and take them out... but for how cheap they are you might as well buy another one... I bought it so I could rejet it... didn't do me much good, but also I couldn't use the cdi, wrong plug shape... so if you order one be sure it has the same style... i.e does your cdi have sharp corners on the plug or are they rounded off... give that a shot...
