TrailMaster 150 XRS - Gear Oil

Spec's (from distributor / seller) says 8-9 oz. in gear-case.

Upon receipt of new 150 XRS unit, we drained gear-case after a few hours of bereak-in, - seemed there was allot more than 8-9 oz oil in the gear-case !! (Yes, we should have measured quantity out - whoops....)

Looked in the manual - gear-case capacity is not spec'd ??

Seller / distributor specs / instruction sheets - say just 8-9 oz - same as we saw in another forum post here from 2015.

Can anyone confirm - proper gear oil (80/90) quantity - that should be refilled in gear case, after draining ?

On the side of the gear case - there is imprinted notice with an "arrow" ( --> ) - that says "Oil .75 L " - but that is the quantity for the engine oil, not the crank-case - confusing identifier....

Spent several hours on web today - still confused as to "proper" amount of gear case oil in the 150 XRS.

Several sites suggest fill completely - or 25.4 ounces (.75L) - (which is imprinted on gear case). Others suggest gear lubrication is a "splash" system and requires 8-9 ounces (distributor manual) or less...... This info has to be available somewhere to confirm - would really appreciate guidance as to where to research / confirm proper gear oil capacity. I'm sure this info would help other 150 XRS / XRX users as well.

Seller inquired with Mfg representative - advised today the 8-9 ounces is correct. No explanation why the gear case itself was imprinted with "Oil .75L --->", just assuming that is an indicator for "engine oil". Unnerving - as we are confident much more than 8-9 ounces of original oil came out of gear case when drained.... but we'll go with refills of 8-9 ounces....

That is strange. Because .75 litres is 25 ounces!

Further confusion on this elementary issue:

Still unsure about gear oil capacity - seller's instructions (and reaffirmation) says 8-9 oz of gear oil - and gear case is stamped (imprinted) with the "Oil .75L --->" lettering - but the arrow points away from the gear oil fill plug - arrow points to engine. Sure wish there was a link to TrailMaster to get another (direct) confirmation on the gear oil capacity in the 150 XRS.

Review of this site "americansportworks.com", (Service Manual for 7150) - suggested by another post - also confirms gear oil capacity of "750ml" which equals .75L - same as stamped on the gear case.

Hate to question the seller - but I now believe gear oil capacity is 750ml, or, .75L, which equates to 25.4 oz. Plan to drain and refill to 25.4 oz. today.....

We drained & refilled with 25.4 oz of gear oil - so far good, several hrs. use later.... confident case imprint (.75L) correct. Hope this thread helps others ...........

We have enjoyed new cart immensely - and changed gear oil after 1st 5-6 hrs, then again after 2 hard weekends of use. We continue to use 25.4 oz of Lucas 80-90 Gear Oil - no hiccups - all running well.
