I decided to cut and modify the frame in order to fit my 6hp engine and the sportster gas tank. I should have it welded back together by the end of the week. I'll post pictures when its back together.

As promised... :auto:

I had to cut the back axle and mounting plates off, and then the main top bar had to go. As you can see from pic #1 its a convertible at the moment, but not recommended for driving like this :D

Next, I had to position the engine as to see what new angle I would need for proper clearance. Then, I welded the rear wheel mount frame points along with the steel plates. I discovered the original tubing is pretty thin and makes it hard to weld with a FCAW. It can be done, but have patience and beware it will burn a hole pretty easy.

Once the rear of the frame was assembled I moved on to the main bar. I happened to have the same diameter tubing laying around so it made the next part pretty simple. I am not concerned with the looks of the top bar since I'm covering it with a steel gas tank. The only casualty was the 10" miter saw that I use with a steel cutting blade. It over heated and caught the plastic guard on fire.

As it sits right now... but hopefully today it gets paint.

I can't wait to see how yours looks! Sorry for hijacking your thread, but I hope it gives you some ideas for your build.
