I am done with the gokart, put the kid in it, and he just digs into the grass, and way to get more traction ???

maybe he doesn't weigh enough. Did you dig into the grass?

What condition are the rear tires in? Moving to a more aggressive tire could help get traction, at the expense of the lawn.

Maybe the kid has a heavy foor. Gear a bit higher and you won't have the torque you have now.

Like Fabroman asks, what is your gear ratio. Count the axle and clutch sprocket teeth and post here

is it a live axle? maybe it needs taller gearing...or larger rear tires?
