BOB:
"People buying Lotto at the gas station are like jokes about German sausage"
Perfect!
Like the retired 55yr old City Worker... Brings in his Lotto punch card, and then Can't decide which scratcher to buy. ALL at 6:45 AM while 10 other Normal Working People just want to swipe their Card and get their Coffee!!!!
I want to strangle those People. I always mumble "I hope you lose"
The worst is when you hold the door for them, and it causes them to be 1 person ahead of you in line.

YOU Bob? You have no ideals....Wait....I misread that....No....not you....(but another member or too, yes!)

Ahh c'mon... I got time to get into a big, unending and senseless argument that won't actually change either of our minds and you want to take the high road when I confront you?

I'm the one who brought up the tuned runner intake, small engine "6 pack" tripple carb, umm... hmm... I'm sure there's more I can't remember right now. You must be referring to my ideas, too. C'mon... be honest and straight with me.

Oh, names Ron by the way.

Nope...Ronio....the whole runner thing was just discussion on some of the finer points and considerations....not a dissing of a totally idiotic idea.

Sorry....I have faith in you....eventually you'll say something dumb enough to draw Poboy ire....just hasn't happened yet!

Suggest you study some of the newbies threads for inspiration.

Ok... fine. :::sadly putting soapbox back:::

I have been reading some of the newbie threads, and although there are some questionable listening and reasoning skills, I sympathize with the "innovative, out of the box ideas" because I often find myself trying to be "innovative" and "thinking outside the box" because I actually spend about 50% of my free time reading, researching and trying to learn on a wide variety on topics. And there are a few things I have learned on my long quest to quench my thirst for knowledge, and some of those things are that all manufacturers of all products have to walk a fine line on all matters in aspects such as product quality, performance, weight, fuel milage, longevity, EPA and emissions, size restraints and on and on and on... which leaves a whole host of arreas dreamers like others and myself can tinker with to improve one or more areas by compromising or removing restrictions that the original engeneers of said product had been limited by.

In addition, I also realize that all of the great products and inventions we enjoy today are only in existence because of the spirit, drive and ingenuity of those who dare to dream, think outsidethe box and try their hand at being innovative. I admire that spirit and courage that it takes to speak up about their ideas in this world owhere the majority of people have been indoctrinated into the belief that there's nothing left to be discovered and who ridicule anyone who doesn't tow the line of mindless acceptance. Its much easier to sit back and make fun of those who put their "out of the box" ideas and "innovative" attempts at improvement for others to see just to feel smarter, or try to appear smarter, that those with the innovative spirit than it is for the innovaters and free thinkers to put their ideas out for the wolves of society to ridicule. And, like you pointed out to me not long ago, there are a good majority of youth on this forum who, by the very nature of this DIY forum, aspire to learn and be innovative and think out side of the box to accomplish their goal of building a go kart. One would think that we would not only refraine from ridicule but actually ENCOURAGE an innovative and out of the box thinking approach and use this platform as it is intended... which is to provide an environment where innovative and DIY type people can feel comfortable sharing their ideas and asking questions without the ridicule, put downs and sarcastic remarks. I will always have more respect for a person with innovative ideas, even if I feel they ARE ridiculous, than I will ever have for the person just waiting for such ideas to come up to publicly humiliate them.

So here we are, standing on the shoulders of the innovators while we use the technology invented with out of the box thinking to send our thoughts over vast distances, nearly instantly, in a conversation that was started to ridicule ideas of people for their attempt at being innovative and thinking outside the box. There is a bigger, more beautiful picture here that we are all contributing to. Each of our comments are like little brush strokes on the canvas of this reality with different colors being representative of our conscious thoughts and intent that we apply to the bigger picture, where our paint can directly affect the paint of those around us.

Wow, did you see that? I slid off the rails and went into some kind of hippy talk in an attempt to convey my viewpoint with a metaphor. Look, I know it can be frustrating to not ridicule and pick the low hanging fruit but, its my humble opinion that it is more helpful to consider the color and brush stroke you use to help the other painters around you. No two artists use the same techniques, but you can atleast try to not throw the whole bucket of paint on the canvas... dude.
(Yeah, I referenced the hippy talk metaphor again... deal with it)

DUDE!!!!....Oh crap....now you've got me doing it!!!! Wow man!!!! That's just heavy!!! I mean...that negative karma can really kill a buzz in a hurry! !!!

NOW!!!!...... There's a difference between "thinking outside the box" and just being too stupid, lazy, or stoned to even know how to operate IN IT!

Now, I hear what you're saying....as I too, have always been an "out of the box" thinker kind of guy....but you have to first understand the "box" you're trying to "think" outside of....the parameters and consequences of the actions going there entail.

A slight knowledge of the past endeavors in the areas involved would go a long way in negating a lot of wasted time in this area.....just because there aren't any square wheels around doesn't make it a brilliant innovative idea to make one....

Believe it or not...the negative replies by the resident members are EARNED....one way or another!

We don't care if new members are "mentally challenged " and ask the simplest questions there are....we will respectfully answer them....and do our best to help them and make them feel welcome.....

But come here and try to "school" us "few old dinosaurs " with hairbrained crap we've seen fail while we were growing pubic hair....ask questions and then dis and ignore the answers.....well....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!

Poboy out....:surrender:

The "dude" was refrencing the title of your thread, I personally fislike tge use of the word. I understand how its frustrating but it doesn't change the fact that your comments could influence great minds aspiring to make a difference. You can make light of the situation and defend the practice of humiliation upon those who you feel deserve it, I'm not going to argue. I just wanted to make a few points and give my opinion. Take it how you w ill and make fun of my post, I don't really care... I'm just trying to put a little different perspective to the situation.

FreeRunner paid me to say that.....

There.....I fixed that for ya!

Lol Nah... I admire freerunner for putting up with your sh!t, his spirit for innovation and positive attitude. I think he could benefit from some better listening and reasoning skills at times... but we have all been there before. I know I have and I'm sure I will again. You don't see many comments from me on his threads for a reason. But I, personally, don't feel ridicule really does any good. I will try to help and work with someone but if I see its not doing any good then I just won't waist my time pisting anything. To each his own. He isn't hurting me in any way at all. He has never tried to ridicule me or be mean in any way towards me so I don't feel the need to do so to him.

Dude!!!!! LOL
dude is a great word. just maybe not in Text. Depending on how you say it, It can mean a huge variety of different things. It is a great Versatile word.
There is only 1 other word "F..." that is more versatile. But Dude is more polite in most cases.

As for Freerunner I agree with you. Mostly. Does no good to insult him. and does no good to tell him anything cause he wont listen. So I try to ignore it.(but its like not looking at a train wreck) If I do post there it is in response to "the guys" not him.

I used to use dude a lot but I duded myself out. Some people, like many Californians, can pull it off but I gave up on it.

I understand. I have been there before too but I realized that I was hurting more than helping.. and for what? A few laughs with the guys at someone else's expense? I grew out of it somewhere between jr high and when I had kids. I figure that if they are doing stuff the wrong way and won't listen eventually it will catch up to them and bad stuff will happen, so I really don't need to rain on their parade ahead of the sh!t storm. And I really don't have a need for "I told ya so" 's.

I'm not saying anyone is a bad person.. just trying to share my viewpoint.

Ok I finally read it! You are correct. It is too easy to Pick this Low hanging fruit.

But this Forum is cool, because we do not usually RAIL each other.
Compare this forum to the comments on most all UTUBE vids.
Or the nastiness on a public Facebook page, Or Trump on Twitter.
99% of the time we are Gentlemen. and thats why we come back.
So I have to totally agree (except that weird hippie, artist paint brushthing)
Well said "Dude"

Underwent major surgery ~6 weeks ago; family clogged up things enough that I finally got clear yesterday (Tues).

Wake up this morning, watching the news, and tink; the spring inside the hinge assembly on my glasses fales....
