I just got my first torque converter (Chinese) I'm sure, for my Pred. 212.
No directions but mostly already put together.
Anyway the 4 bolts (I'm guessing) that are supposed to bolt it to the side cover are metric flange bolts but not locking flange bolts. I don't know why they are not locking flange bolts.
I will be replacing the ,..metric bolts..... with the correct size 5/16-24.
Question should I use lock washers with regular bolts, or flange bolts with lock washers?
A picture of the bolts that came with the T.C........ 8 mm bolts that were included.

After looking at, T.Davidson's .....thread about a T.C. I think my question is answered.
On one of the pics. it shows a T.C. plate bolted to the side cover without lock washers. So I'm guessing no lock washers needed.
Now I just have to find directions or video..(my first T.C.) on how to install.

Use a flanged bolt or add a flat washer to a regular bolt. Use Blue Loc-Tite instead of lock washers. It’s the Franks Red Hot sauce for gokarts. I Put That S@/T On Everything!

BTW, the pic in the thread you mentioned, was just a mock-up to see how things fit. On final assembly l’ll use flat washers so the yak hair/rice fiber alloy plate doesn’t get all chewed up. Oh and the above mentioned hot sauce!

Well this work is this enough, I think it's only about 3/8? To slide the outer pulley system on.
It doesn't look like much but when I line it up this is all I have left.

Again when I checked back at T.Davidson's thread l looked at what Ponchothedog wrote. I have 3/8 of the shaft left for the outer pulley system to rest on. I went and got a very long bolt long enough to do all the threads so I think it'll work for me also.

You will be fine. With the short shaft on the Predator that's all you get. I think I have made it work with 1/4" . You actually have a little more. Just make sure the bolt uses all the available threads in the crank AND clamps down on the driver before bottoming out in the crank. Use something better than a common
gate quality hardware bolt. Grade 5, 8, or stainless. Some blue loctite or its
equivalent, torque to 24 lb. ft. And you are set.

Okay probably another dumb T.C. question. I got everything lined up put the engine on an engine stand and the engine and torque converter seem to run pretty good.
Question since I'm new with torque converters is there a place that I should be oiling the torque converter?
Thanks.
