Its funny that you should mention overdrive because I was just riding the kart today and when it's speed is topped out, I noticed that the belt is not even riding up to the middle of the drive pully.. Assuming it's supposd to go up higher than that. I have done the belt measuring tools but mine doesn't match any haha. Mines 6" driver and 6-3/4" C.D. Belt 203589A is for 6-5/8 " to 6-11/16". The next belt is 6-15/16" to 7" but I would say it falls 1/16" closer to belt 203589A so yeah lol.

P.S. I'd really like to keep the rear tires haha

Mine was exactly the same. The measurement was in between. I ended up elongating the holes slightly as my belt was a little tight. It's good now.
If your belt isn't running all the way up the driver you gearing is out. Put the kart up on stands and see if the belt runs all the way up the driver.

Yeah it runs all the way up with the wheels off the ground but never actually checked it out while I was on it. im changing my gearing for sure. I'm not sure about elongation of the plate holes I assume your talking about lol

Lol yes the plate holes that bolt the plate to the engine crank case.
They didn't need much to take the pressure off the belt. But honestly think it made a difference. Certainly made it easier to push around.

Should the inside of by drive pully look like this lmao...:mad2: another indicator of bad gearing? I got the new sprocket but cant put it on because the rod that holds my brake band on is right in front of it barely with enough room for the 36 tooth sprocket that's on it....

depending on the age of the driver, that's not an uncommon picture let's say.

if it's a month or two old: gearing, if it's a year or two: normal

the weights rub agaist that part
that's why this inside needs to be dry lubed in the first place.

Anyways, once the lube is gone it smears (and insufficient maintenance makes this worse)
Fresh out of the box with a bad gear ratio, the lube lasts for maybe minutes not months.. soooo yeah.

Yeah its not old at all so bad gearing. And I'm having a hard time fiting my bigger axle sprocket on due to things welded to the frame being in the way. I think my only option is to run a double threaded end jackshaft through the driven pully and put the axle sprocket on the other side. Is that a thing? And what would I need to support the jackshaft on the other side?

Pillow block bearings.

Thanks I was wondering what those were called. I have something similar to those that came with the kart when I bought it brandnew 15 years ago. It has a 5/8 shaft with a sprocket welded to the shaft inserted through it. Thinking I could maybe just use it but but a 14" jackshaft to run through the driven. It would be set up like this, from shaft side of motor to flywheel side. (locknut>washer>driven>washers>backplate>lockring>4"~ofshaft>locking>mypillowblock>washers>clutch sprocket>washer>locknut) seems ghetto but also seems like the cheapest, easiest, way for me,to set it up. Any body see anything wrong with how that would work?

The little chinese fellow must have used black/ dark grey dry lube on mine, straight out of the box mine was a very similar color. They could very well have used a graphite based dry lube
Ill go get some dry lube and clean all my black off so i can keep an eye on things better.
Due to not getting instruction or manual with the clones I was wondering what this black stuff was all about. now I now thanks.
