It says its for a hammerhead 80T which I do not have. But the belt instructions show that its for a 30 series which is asymmetrical and the belt is asymmetrical. I tolled them that my driven pully is 6" and the C.D is 6.75"~ what belt would you get for those dimensions?

And actually after taking a look at the manufactures website(Blast LED) of the torque converter I got, it recommends a bunch of belts but I do see the 725 in the list for a 30 series. Not sure why someone at gopowersports would recommend 669 being .5" shorter. I think they should send me a free one haha

If the belt is too tight, will that cause the belt to shred and make the drive pully really hot? The blast led website which i got my torque converter from recommends the 725 belt I have the belt that's .5" smaller. They are both asymmetrical.

Is there a reason you didn't/wouldn't go with the one they told you to use?

Well before doing all my research, I asked the people at GoPowerSports for help finding my belt and they recommended the wrong belt, then after my purchase tolled tolled me a different belt. Back to question above, would a tight belt cause the drive pully to get really really hot?

Blast LED is not a manufacturer, it's a reseller of cheap chinese stuff!

And yeah... now that you mentioned their site... I've seen the 725..
(so it's just coincidentally that both numbers matched symmetric gy6 belts.. or chinese manufacturer just had that stamp laying around from a previous job ;))

Anywhoo.. 28" in outer circumference sounds too long to me

BELT 203589A is meant for 6 5/8" to 6 11/16" Center to center distance and has an outer circumference of 27"
(the standard Tav2 kit belt)

Do as you please with that info, I'm in the kitchen if you need me ;)

PS Oh and btw, the driven getting hot is a direct result of a crappy gear ratio, but you already knew that, right?

Well I guess my belt keeps shredding because of misalignment still, i thiught I adjusted it pretty good, but the new belt only lasted about 25 mins before throwing belt dust everywhere. And I guess I'll have to get a new sprocket to get a better gear ratio, I think mines like 3.6:1. Anyone know what a sprocket with a brake drum welded to it is called haha, that's whats on mine.. :furious2:

think y'all can provide any help with any tips or tricks on how to align the two pulleys besides eyeballing. Tried a fuller but the strong side wont fit in the pullys to get an accurate alignment. And any tips on how to change my able sprocket that has a welded on drum?

How many teeth on the sprocket welded to the drum?
It might be easier to go down in size on the sprocket on the TC . You can get an eight tooth one that will fit your TC.

That would be nice. I believe its 36t on the axle sprocket. So even with an 8t on the TC, that would bring that ratio to 4.5:1

The brake drum is an odd size at 6", all the sprockets ratios and everything on this go kart is stock, from 15 years ago that is Lol..

right.

which, if you get the right sprocket, will prevent this shredding of belts due to your bad gear ratio.

Yeah its gonna be hard getting a new axle sprocket(bigger) to fit on my kart but it is what has to be done, i believe that is my main problem. I guess i just had a hard time believing that a 100% factory(stock) setup would have terrible gearing. But then again, knowing that it is 15~ years old makes it not so hard to believe haha. I have a new sprocket and sprocket hub coming in the mail. Sure do hope that fixes my "shredding belt"(always shredds on the inside) problem, becuase at first tinkering around on the go kart was fun, but problem after problem has dulled the enjoyment thats for sure...

So in other words correct belt number is mandatory and that's posed a problem when you have 10 ten different people/websites telling you ten different belts

Simple..
find the Comet Tav2 manual on the internets
(literally "Comet Tav2 pdf" is all you need to search for...
I'd show you mine, but you know.. people on the internets whom to trust ;))
no worries.. there are plenty copies around, and you will easily find one.
Now that you have a copy of the original manual of the original part...
pick any, compare multiple for inconsistencies if you like yadda yadda...

use the original belt (read the number from said manual)
on your chinese clone TAV ;)

Alright well yeah it shows the 203589A belt like you've been saying lol, I've ordered every belt but that one. But I figure I need to get my gearing a lot higher before I shred any belt I do get. Anyone on here ever order from gokartsupply.com ?

If I was in America this is where I would buy my belt from.

If your rear tires are small enough you won't need to change your gear ratio that much if you get the right belt.
So what size tires do you have?

I'll have to check to be 100% but I know they are pretty big, around the the 14" mark. And would you agree that my belt could be 203589A for a Chinese make tav2 30 series

Wow That's a large tire for such a tall gear ratio. No wonder the belts aren't lasting. I have a Chinese tav with a gear ratio of 5:1 on 13" tires and it doesn't get into the "overdrive" that they have. But I'm not shredded belts.
Yes I would say that is the correct belt for most Chinese tav. They do have different lengths depending on manufacture but from what I can gather not that much.
Have you done the measurement that go kart supply has on their website?
