Hold on- it's quite simple. You're using an ASYMMETRIC system. ONE side of each sheave is nearly flat the other side angled. Both flat sides need to be on the same side. If they ARE, they are oriented correctly.

Closer to the nut and it opens well. Both flat side of driven and driver are near engine, but driver and driven arent alligned

I really couldn't get much out of that video. One, it's too shaky. Two- the throttle blips. Don't just tickle the throttle- go from idle to WOT and hold it there. Then idle and repeat. That way we can clearly see how the system is responding to the RPM changes.

Well, the lighting is bloody awful but from what I can see, it's basic function is correct. Perfect the alignment, slap on a new belt and test drive.

yes im using a knock off TAV2 without a belt number, now to get a correct comet belt, i need to know the center distance between the jackshaft and center of driver, some belts for comet 30 are made longer and some shorter, the key is the center distance

Just look up the Comet # for the TAV2. No wonder you're confused. The 30 "series" is a separate 2-piece system like the 40. The TAV2 ONLY uses ONE belt size- because the center distance is ALWAYS the same. Go here and scroll down to the TAV2- you'll see THE belt#. http://www.gokartsupply.com/tavapp.htm

How can you be so sure? Wouldn't it just SUCK if you blew money on it only to find you STILL had do manually line things up? You might be better off to just fix it and have done with.

well i ordered anyawy, but i felt kind of bad after so, this morining i picked up some spacers. i worked on the alligment and got it perfectly alligned but it dosent look like that at the angle of the pictures. i got a video and after testing it looks like it tries to come up to overdrive but dosent make and i feel its because the belts close to gone. heres a pic and a while lighted, better, video. i definetley wont be looking back on that china belt tho. also sorry about the whole commentary thing, my little brother was taping so the video wasnt so shaky and the cling you hear is from the spacer hitting the shaft because its a little on the big side http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ88SE2uvbs EDIT: if anyone wants to know what a ****ed up china torque converter belt looks like, take a look at thesse pics

Wow.
Get a real comet belt for $25. make sure it is the correct centre distance using this chart
Sorry to be blunt, but you wasted $80. Send it back or cancel your order. You also got ripped off.

What you should do:
Check both driver and driven for physical faults. Remember this is a chineese system (no disrespect, I have one!)
Get some tubing or thin washers with an internal diameter of 3/4"
Make a spacer. start off oversise, then use a grinder or lathe if you have one to slowly grind to the perfect size. (TBH your allignment looks good in that last picture) The two / closes to the engine should line up.
Now install your genuine comet belt. Check to see if it looks alligned. Mine came stock out of allignment too. See here. THIS IS NOT ALLIGNED I can get a pic of correct allignment if you wish.

Get them perfect before you run, you dont want to chew up a new belt.

i have 2 on the way and i payed 30.50 shipped for both. i have made sure of center distance. driver and driven are all good. and allignment is good, that was my final alligment, it was acheived with a combination of spacers, i feel the allignment is now perfect. and they are lined up, i will be putting on a comet belt and i hope everything works well, that is unallignment you can see. i feel i should be good. and yes i did waste 80 bucks and i will return it, it has already shipped so everything should be fine.and rob i think the belt on there is backwards. and to all who have helped, and especially to toystory - i can be really hard headed, sometimes i do things that arent needed just to find out with a little time i can do it without it. my problem is not wanting to screw anything up as i have a habit for that. but thank you for all the help and im sorry for being so hard headed

Meh- we all have our faults. That said- PATIENCE, my man- examine all options and think things through before acting. You'll save yourself time, aggravation, and money. Trust me. Been there, done that, learned.
