Generally, off-road anything will be beter with a Torque Converter. For that engine, you will need a Comet 40 series or equivelent. Its not going to be cheap.

Why are you changing the engine? Whats wrong with the one in the buggy?

Well the engine in there now is a gy6 150cc. Used to run good until I took it to a so called "mechanic" I asked him to fix my reverse gear and he took my carb apart and screwed it up! Claimed it was dirty... Only ran it once and it was two days old. So the engine and transmission is all messes up now.

A brand new carb would be a lot cheaper than getting a 40 series Comet. I would just fix what you got and not give yourself one huge headache of trying to get another engine in there

FYI eBay has good deals on the 40 series torque converters with one inch bore.

I found an 8hp Briggs and Stratton for sale so I might get that and put a clutch on it. So anyone know how to mount the Briggs in and put a different sprocket on the axle??
