Torque Converter or CC?? give me some advice

hi, i just joined this site and i am new to karting so i had some questions about my kart. it was purchased at a garage sale for $25, with a 5 hp briggs on the back. my friend had a running gx390 that he gave me for free, so am going to use that. my question is, what kind of CC or torque converter should i use? it had 13 inch rear tires, 72 tooth sprocket on a live axle. the engine has a 1 inch output shaft and is 13 hp. i am looking for the cart to have good low end power but still some decent top speed. i will mainly be using it for asphalt and dirt/gravel roads. any suggestions? 40 series Comet I think would work best.

although some Tav2 kits are rated for 13HP, I doubt they actually stand the abuse for very long (especially the belt) so, to be on the safe side at least I'd go for a series 40.

Yup, I would suggest a comet 40 series. It costs more, but that is the price you pay for having a large engine

Thanks for the suggestions I was looking at the mini cup clutch...that's what AGK recommended for me, but I am looking for more low end power than speed, so I guess the 40 series would be my best bet. Do any of you guys have a link to a good place where I can buy one
