i thought of modifying my driven's 'ramps' to get it to have actual gears (semi auto). i will need more rpm first.

I think I get the concept... instead of a smooth V in the sheaves, you'd have steps... maybe three, and as the speed increased, the belt would be allowed to "jump" to the next "gear." Is that right? I'd just like to see a picture of it and hear how it works if it's ever something you get to!
