frame is not setup for a torque converter. the pulley that is rubbing the frame is supposed to move. is there anyway you can nudge the engine and components over 2", or so it looks?

What about clearancing the frame? Maybe cut out the offending section of frame, and weld in a new piece that goes below the pulley?
A torque convertor is definately the way to go. And you can't just randomly get a different sized belt, won't work. I can't believe somebody left it like that!:eek:ut: :censored: :mad2: :poop: :poop: :poop:

It looks like that part of the frame is there to hold the pillow bearing by the differential. It appears from the photo that it is not bolted on, but it is hard to tell. It may be time to get out the die cutter and the welder to fix this, with 13HP you want a strong drive-train. Keep the TaV, much better than a clutch, especially off road, but pls buy some replacement buttons for your driven pulley:

there is a way simpler solution. the mounting holes are drilling so you can slide your motor forward and backward correct? of course they almost all are. anyway, figure out where you need it, then mark the bolts, take your engine off and make your mounting slots go sideways. you dont need that much room. your sprocket wont line up so you will need to move that over too..if you dont know how to move your sprocket just ask we will help.

I honestly don't think there's enough clearance in there, looking at the pic, to shift the engine, jackshaft, and sprocket. Just mod the tube. Pay out a few bucks for the task if need be, it'll be worth it. Good eye, residentg, as I was staring at the middle pic, I saw the missing button!

Vandancouver, you gave me an idea: if the engine were moved forward, the pulley would clear the frame tube. Aug626, take the chain off and see if your engine will slide forward enough for the pulley to clear the tube. If not, see if you can modify the engine / jackshaft mounting slots on your frame plate so that you can. You then have to get the chain the proper length to work.

If you just moved the engine toward the front a little like 2" you would clear it.

If you remove that converter we will hurt you.
You need a converter for mud driving, cent clutches burn up fast.

just move the engine. when i did a engine swap on this off road cart i have, i had to move the sprocket on the axel (simple when the engine is off, i jus flipped the cart over) then i have a jackshaft that is mounted underneath the engine..same style of mount, and i just slid it all around wherever i needed it.

you have access to 230? Dang, I wish I did, that welder is $20 cheaper than the one I was looking at for 115V
