Stamped on the belt is "THIS SIDE TO ENGINE". I understand why you have to do this on an asymmetrical setup where one side has a steeper degree angle that the other, but why on a symmetrical setup where the angles are the same? Just a curiosity question.

If you are using an asymmetrical belt on a symmetrical CVT system then you have a problem. A symmetrical CVT can have the belt mounted either way, makes no difference.

If you do have a symmetrical belt and it says "this side to engine" then I have no explanation for you. Maybe the machine that prints numbers also prints that automatically?

Yeah some symmetrical belt have this too. I would obey it just in case lol.
It may just be to do with manufacturing, maybe it is cheaper somehow?!?

That's what I was thinking. They just print it on the account the machine is bored and needs something to do. I still installed it correctly, it was just an "I wonder why they did this" question.

On a side note. I am totally happy with my new setup. Only one problem: my bracket flexes and throws the chain. I have to stiffen it without making a belt change impossible. Back to the drawing "bar napkin".
