Torque converter & centrifugal clutch

I am in the process of restoring an old Yerf Dog, model number unknown and I have two questions.

1. The previous owner said it was all there except for the centrifugal clutch. My first question is why does it have a torque converter and a centrifugal clutch?

2. The second is what kind of clutch to get. The motor is a Tecumseh 5.5 hp with a 7/8” shaft about 3 “ long. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank and stay well everyone. Jack

Please post a few photos, someone should be able to identify the model and it will help to sort out your clutch/TC dilemma.

Often I see this as a common misnomer, the referencing of the "clutch" in a TC Cvt transmission, and a Clutch, in the centrifugal variant with a sprocket attached to the drum.
The Driven and a Cent clutch being the difference.
Yes they technically are the same... but common vernacular says otherwise, to the uninitiated...
