I have a 13 Horse Honda motor pushing a tav 2-100 torque a verter. It goes through belts like water. It has a 12 tooth jackshaft sprocket and a 60 tooth axle sprocket. Tires are 19 inches tall. Am I too high geared? Is that why I am tearing my belts up? The driver and the driven are lined up good. It's wearing out the belts from the bottom side. Also I don't know the role of the tabs. Could that be the problem? The carts top speed is 46 MPH if that helps rule out gear ratio problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated cuz those belts are not cheap.

Its the torque converter being unable to run that motor. It might fix your issues if you get a 80t axle sprocket. It won't make the belts last forever but it will help.

Your ratio is highly wrong, but mainly your problem is that the system wasn't designed for your engine. You really need to purchase a series 40 torque converter.

End story, increase main sprocket to an 80tooth if you're running 3/8" pitch chain.

If you have 1/2" pitch chain make it a 10 on the jackshaft and a 72 on the axle.

You are correct sir, it has been rated 3-8 hp.

Many of these Chinese companies selling aftermarket clutches are claiming these will hold up on 13hp engines without caring if they break. They just want the sale.

Many companies like Ken-Bar installed Comet series 30 clutches on engines upwards up 10hp and they worked just fine, however 8-20hp really needs series 40 and anything past 10hp would be pushing it greatly on series 30.

The site I bought it from said it would work with a 13 HP but I guess I got the shaft. Well, I have a couple of 8 HP engines laying around. I think I will put it on another cart and use a jackshaft on this one. I have an 18 tooth clutch and with the big tires I have it will take a pretty steep gear reduction. Simple solution would be to put smaller tires on it but I love the looks of it with those Monster knobby tires on it. I will try to get some pics taken

You might consider fixing gearing using a clutch on the jackshaft rather than purchasing an expensive 1" clutch. This will give you mucho ability to gear for the tires.

Sorry to hear you are yet another victim of their lies.
