That's a good read there! I booked marked it thanks! How can I tell what is the best clutch and torq for my application? I hope that if I get a them I hope I can Re use them if I get a bigger motor

I read through and know my clutch is bad, I need a stronger one. The weight of the kart with me and a kid is to much. Also looks like it wasn't taken care of well!

What does it do? I was told to get one...

In short... it's a 'clutch system' that takes an initial gearing ratio and converts it to a lower ratio at higher rpms for less torque and more topend/speed, via a set of contracting and collapsing pulleys. So, in shorter layman terms... its an automatic transmission of sorts(hence the 'proper' terminology... a CVT, Continually Variating Transmission).

Is there a clutch I can buy that will work better with a certain torq? Like size and power ratio.... I don't want a clutch to small or a torq to big for the motor...does that make sense? I really appreciate ur help I really don't know!

UP to 8HP, you get a 30 series TC. Any HP over that up to 18HP, get a comet 40 series. That is about it, no matter what your size is. Gearing will sort out all the other factors.

y would they switch it out the TC for CC??

Your guess is as good as ours; the only good reason anyone can come up with is something goes wrong with the TC &, because they don't know how to fix it, they decide it's "easier" to install a CC; counter intuitive if you ask me... not to mention counter productive...
