Basically a skier or wakeskater in my case will stand on one side of a body of water while a buddy will drive the throttle and pull me across said body of water. It’s a rope on a motor more or less.

could u explain a bit better please? i cannot figure out what it will do

Basically, you fire up the engine then pull out 600-1000' rope get on a wake board or anything really and then when somebody throttles it up it reels in the rope quickly, quick enough that you can wake board behind it. It's meant to be use on shallow rivers/ponds/pools anywhere you can't fit a boat.

Here is a pretty good vid:

Oh it works. The first one I ever used was an actual gokart that was ancient and rusted all to heck. We used the back right wheel and just had like 200ft of rope on it. Live axel, 6.5 briggs and an old kart wheel. It wouldnt pull my buddy who is about 230lbs but it pulled me at 175 or so at the time. This is going to be purpose built this time.

I'm looking at it and trying to think where i would be able to use one, but for the life of me I can't figure it out so I'll ask you where do you plan to use yours?

I was thinking the same thing!!! But I want one anyway. I thought maybe I could use it for snowboarding on an open field like setting up our jumps and stuff and not needing a hill to get speed!!!

I live by a river so I'll probably use it there lots, at least when there is water in it. Also I live in Florida so there are thousands of lakes, ponds, ditches, flooded parking lots, and beaches around. I've been all over Google maps looking at spots. Also with this tropical system we are getting right now I think its dumped like a foot of rain. I keep seeing flooded spots everywhere.

Ok guys, need some help on gearing here.
My set up:
7hp Robin Subaru maxrpm probably 3000/3200
torque a verter with 12t sprocket
live axle 68t
The spool (wheel) is dynamic so I can change it between 4.5in 6in and close to 8in inner diameter.
When I run the speed calc I get speed between 8-12mph
Now I know a guy that runs the same engine, same gearing with the 8in on the spool and he is pulling at roughly 20mph. You need about 18mph to plane. WTF
