okay my pit bike tire read 0 PSI the other day... so i was going to use harbor freight tires and make the frame look more vintage. the problem is when i move the tire has like 1" of wobble and i already tried to balance it but there is no hope.

so im looking for affordable 13" (or close enough) split rims and tires (front and back) for a 1/2" axle. i have a 4 bolt 72 tooth sprocket that uses #35 chain right now.

ive been looking and nothing :mad2:

and i have like no money so ill try and figure out how to make some... but that gives me time to look for the best deal.

possible, but i dont know how to make a hub that fits a 72t sprocket and bearings for a 1/2 axle.

The bearings arn't a problem, you can purchase reducers or just suck it up and buy 1/2id bearings, they're out there. I will ask however, what stops you from using a 5/8" bolt for your rear axle?

like blaz said, you can either buy new bearings, get reducers, or drill out your mounts to accept a 5/8" axle. also, as long as there are bolts to mount something to, all you need is a bit of time, and some good measuring, and you can make an adapter, or just drill some more holes in your sprocket to fit the hubs bolt pattern. i will mention this thing is gonna go a lot slower and have a whole lot more power than it did with the either 16 or 18" tires you had before!

Sorry, I didn't read the split hub bit. Most ride on wheels are not split hub as far as I know. I guess you could drill some holes to match your sprocket.

Sorry, but I didn't understand the original problem. What do you mean when you say the tire has 1" of wobble? Do you mean that it's not really round?

i sliced off part of the solid hub on my wrecked tire and welded them onto the HF one. when i kick the tire (spin it) it has about 1" from side to side of being crooked.

@r97 when i got it for christmas in 2006 (pretty sure) it was un modified with everything original until the ratchet in the sprocket broke summer of 2009 i took it apart spring 2010.

early july 2010 i finished putting a poulan 33cc chainsaw into it and the only reason it never worked was because it was geared too high. i was going to make a jackshaft when.......

i STUMBLED upon a used 43cc gas scooter engine at the end of july 2010 (i think) and bent some angle iron brackets in (no welder) it worked finally in like early august.

then in september 2010 i joined the forums! :wai:

in october 2010 (i think) i bought my HF welder and made some real motor mounts. by the end of october and early november it was already tired out and i just took it apart again.

in late december i got the 6.5 clone and 3 or 4 days later it was driveable! but barely.

now early january 2010 (yesterday) i took it apart again and made a more mini bike style looking thing!

P.S. in my avatar that was taken of it in august after a new paint job. STILL had angle iron brackets and bolts since i did not have a welder at the time.

Can you try welding a hub into the HF wheel again? Maybe you learned something the first time, so the second try would work better....

You really need to find a good scrap yard and figure out how to get there regularly. I bought wheels and rims from a riding lawnmower for $5 each last summer. That's $5 for a rim and tire, and I bought both sides. The total outside diameter is 16 inches, with a 4" bolt circle to attach the hub. I was going to put them on a bike, but I'll probably mount them on that differential axle I got on the back of the old trike last month.

The local scrap yard has a huge lawnmower graveyard with at least 30 riding mowers. Most of the front wheels, which are the size you'd want to use for a bike, are the kind that just spin on an axle. But once in a while you'll find the kind that bolt onto a hub. If you have a lawn mower shop nearby that does service work and takes trade-ins, you may be able to buy parts. There's a shop near here with a huge mess of riding mowers, and they don't mind selling pieces. I can usually find what I want at the scrap yard, though. There's such a huge suburban population in your state, there must be a few power equipment shops around with dead mower carcasses...

Do you have access to machining tools? If you do, you may be able to dig up a piece of heavy tube stock, make a flange by drilling out a center circle in a piece of plate stock, and then weld it onto the tube stock to make a wheel hub. Precision tools would help, but I'll bet you could do it with a compass, a center punch, and a drill press with a hole saw. The only tricky thing is to get the inside of the hub tubing to be the exact right size for your bearings. A lathe would be just the thing for that job.

no scrap yard within 100 miles of my place. closest go kart shop is across the state, i was surprised there was even one.

my tools:
table top drill press (ryobi 10")
a HF 4.5" grinder and a dewalt 4.5" grinder
HF FCAW welder
corded 10 speed dremel
cordless vulcan drill
corded b&d sander
corded b&d jig saw

thats pretty much it... no pipe benders or anything and no torches no lathes.

leaning towards getting this tire.

Matt the only thing is when you buy the one for the razor you are loosing out about 10 to 20 bucks because you are just going to have to take the ratchet set off and put the other sproket on. BTW mine should be here soon

nope the we have to weld the ratchets up because thats what the sprocket mounts onto.

good news all of a sudden my mom said she would buy me the tire so its all good its coming soon.

and 4 the pic i did use your rear tire but dont worry i put it back hahaha.

oh also i have a computer in my workshop downstairs so im on it now.
