Tires and Rims

hey guys,

My first ever go kart. I need tires and rims however I'm using split rims that have 145/70/6 tires on them with about a little under 2 in hole for the front and back axels. The rim suck and the tires are shot, thinking about getting a set of 4 that will work. The rear axel already has a sprocket attached so I don't need that. I will need at least 4 wholes so that the wheels will go on. And yes this is my first go-kart, needed a project after the divorce.. LOL I have been looking and looking everywhere but I want to make sure when I purchase them they will fit. 6inch tires would work but 8 inch would be alot better. Please help!!

look in to tractor supply for tires and northern tool they have a good selection
for cheep and easy lawnmowers, atv and golfcarts have 4 bolt patterns
i'm using 18" tires w/ a 5 bolt pattern on my racing mower i got them to drift amazing

ok, I got the tires however I have the old tires on split rims. Does anyone know how to get the old tires off the rims?

Tires can be very difficult to break the bead loose from the rim. Kart shops use a bead breaker tool like these pics: http://images.google.com/images?hl=...o kart bead breaker&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi

One alternative Is a large bench Vice like this: http://images.google.com/images?sou...&q=Bench vice&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi
If the Vice opens far enough to clamp around each side wall of the tire, you may find carefully tightening the vice will pop your beads off without damaging the rim.

Lets see here are my methods.... jump on em.... use tractor bucket to pop the bead... blow torch... grinder... oven to soften the tire.....

the bench vice is a good idea however it still didn't break the bead. Thinking about running half of the tire over in my truck to see if that works..

Yeah dont get me started for setting the beads tho... ehehe i take the valve stem out.... and spray a LITTLE BIT one spray just a quick shot in there and put a match to the end... it goes POOF and its set!

take the valve core out when taking them off as well. With a stuck bead on 6" wheels i usually juat spary some type of lubricant around and work your way around with a tire iron or big screwdrivers and a hammer. Just keep going round and round the bead hammering the screwdriver in and prying. It may not look like your doing anything at first but just keep doing it. That usually works for me

i never seen aythink like that before but i have one like this i use it on small wagon flotation tires and pickup tires

all you need is that and two prybars
