Ok so I see hubs that are 4 on 4", and I see hubs that are 4 on 2 13/16" bc. Now, are the listers confusing me? They're both 4 bolts on a 4" circle correct? The ones listed as 4 on 2 13/16 is actually 4 on 4" with 2 13/16" long studs right? Or is there actually a bolt pattern thats 4 on 2 13/16 thats completely different from 4 on 4" and Im just asking a stupid question???

Nope.....not a bad question: ( those don't exsist).....

OK.....Let's break it down and edjumakate you......:lolgoku:

A 4" circle goes from zero to 2" radius.....with basically a whole bunch of circuferences in between.....any one of those can be divided by 4 ....and you will have a 4 on 4 with 4 on 4 @1" being totally different than 4 on 4 @ 3"....

The distance between the centers of the bolt holes is known as the "bolt circle" ....

There are common ones....but also some that aren't.....

Hope this helps.....

EDIT: The 2 13/16" is the distance between the centers of the holes ...(or studs)....or aforementioned bolt cirlce....not how long the studs are.....

Double edit: The 4 on 4 refers to 4 holes in a 4" diameter rim.....

Yes 4 holes on a 4" bolt circle where as that 4" is derived from measuring center to center on opposite lug holes, I get that. Its how every lug pattern I've ever come across was measured.

So ya not the same pattern (cut me some slack Im exhausted and cant think)

For edit 1 though: it confused me because the ad for this one...the one with the MOST info regarding it states 4 on 2 13/16" bc, and down below it goes to state both that the bc is "standard 2 13/16"" and also that the lug length is 2 13/16" (which is confuzzling in itself)

Ya I'm going to sleep now...hopefully. I'll probably be back to call myself an idiot afterwards.

One problem.....no way to put a 4" bolt circle in a 4" rim.......ummmmmm.....the rim measures 4" so.......the lugs would have to go through the beads of the tires.....right.....????!

Get some sleep.....:lolgoku:

EDIT: Oh wait! I need some sleep myself.....we both said the same thing....( I think....)

Still no sleep, no rest for the wicked today.

No I understand the 4 bolts on 4" measured cross bolt center to center. I get that.

What confused me is that I thought the smallest 4 bolt hub was on a 4" spread, but I see these other ones advertised at half the price on a 2 13/16" spread.

I was wondering if the 4 on 2 13/16" was actually 4 on 4" but they just advertised them wrong.

I understand now that they are advertised right and are on a smaller spread. That they are in fact 4 bolts measured 2 13/16" cross bolt center to center and not 4" cross bolt center to center.

See now I'm confusing everyone else lol.

I thought this: http://m.northerntool.com/products/shop~tools~product_52526_52526?hotline=false

Had the same bolt pattern as this:

I didn't sleep either....but I think we got each other's confusion sorted out.....

EDIT: BTW: This is what happens when we get 3 or 4 newbies that think they need 3 threads for one question.....we ALL get confused....?

:roflol:This is why I use wheels with built in hubs. Not ridiculing you. actually me. it was just the easiest way to figure out what I need. 1" hub fits 1" axle. easy. So I still do not know 4 on 4 and 2/3/16 bolt centers. etc etc:horse:
