Tillotson 212cc help!

Hello,
I just recently purchased a Tillotson 212cc motor for a go kart build, not very familiar with what parts I can add but I was wanting to add a reverse gear box and a torque converter kit to it. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions that could help me out I’d definitely appreciate the info. Thanks

Go karts are stripped down to the last ounce in the interests of light weight and speeeeed. Just tryin' to help, but in all honesty we can't just recommend random parts for a kart that doesn't exist. What's the kart, bro?

I have a trailmaster blazer 200r that has a reverse gear, it’s a go kart with speed and forward/reverse, more for off road muddin, not the typical blacktop track but have driven on the road. This kart I’m building has no name it’s just a build I’m working on, don’t care much for the speed (be going in trails and woods) I already got all the parts to put it together now so no worries now. I’ll attach a pic of the trailmaster kart I have…things made in China, I believe it’s a go kart.

A GoKart is more basic, that is more of a mini-buggy.

212 with some stickers slapped on might make 10 lb feets of torqupines at 2500 rippums at the business end of the turn shaft. If your torquey-verter engagalizes at 2500 rippums you’ll have 2.7 - 3.1 times the number of torqupines (depending on if utilitizing the 6” or 7” driven unit). So if you set it up with the driver unit on the crankshaft and driven unit on the gearbox input shaft… the gearbox will battle a maximum of 27-31 torqupines.

If your engine turns 5500 rippums, the shaft with the driven unit will either turn 5000 rpm with a 7” driven unit or 6100 rpm with the 6” driven unit.

So if you can find a gearbox rated for 30 lb ft and 6000 RPM input… you’ll be good. If rated for 20 lb ft and 5000 RPM, I’d probably still give it a shot. If rated for 3500 RPM and and 10 lb ft, I’d be scared.

I didn't know you already had a "kart". For most people a BUILD is major work; usually a from-the-ground-up design and fabrication. Other people drag a fun kart home off craigslist, give it a quick and runny rattle can paint refinish, put a PrED@tør 212 on it and call it a "build". Or worse they call it a rESTörAti0n!


We'd love to help but you haven't even provided so much as a kart drawing on a Burger King napkin yet. I think I figured it out for you: All you really have to do is reverse-engineer your China Buggy. Just make another one, a clone. You don't need us to green light you, just charge ahead.
