It did make a difference though. I think the reason it did was not necessarily because it disabled the governor, but because bypassing the spring allow for more direct control of the governor arm by the throttle lever. Idk if this makes sense to anyone reading. With the spring in use, the governor can move much more freely, hence it not being able to move up and down once the spring was disabled.

That's a good point, and I did consider that. From what I have read, the governor gear inside the crank case is not meant to withstand the high rpms that will be produced once the governor is disabled. I don't intend to use the zip tie method as a permanent "fix" I was just using it for the purposes of the test. Now that I think know what the problem is, I'll just remove the governor entirely.

While the governor gear could probably stay in there for a couple months or longer without getting chopped up and wreaking havoc inside the crank case I don't wanna take that chance.

If removing the governor's internal bits on a Predator, there's plenty of videos out there on how to remove the sidecover and struggle and fight and cuss to get the parts out from the other side of the case. I'll guess that a Tillotson is the same. I would rather hang myself than do that. There's a far better way............
All that's required (at least on a Predator) is to remove the flywheel. If putting in a timing advance key on the flywheel, there's the perfect opportunity for you. Otherwise, you just remove it, easy if you know how.
Once it's out of the way, a simple punch will pop the governor shaft into the crankcase and all of the parts can be plucked right out, takes about one minute. Just be sure to remove all of the washers that are part of it, including for the arm you have to remove separately like everyone else.
