Check this place out:
http://www.gokartgalaxy.com/tie_rods_&tie_rod_kits.htm

5/16ths is pretty standard on all karts, I have 3/8ths on a bigger 2 seat 13 hp go kart that I have. They are a nice upgrade if you want durable tie rods. That site is a good place to find parts, but I'm sure you can find the same parts in other areas too!

Good luck!

(ps if you get the tie rods, and tie rod ends, you can just get the bolts to hold to the steering rod and spindles at any hardware store, they are typically 1/4", buy some washers, and nylock nuts to go on the ends.)

You guys are great! Thanks for the info. What im actually looking for would be the total length i need. Where is it measured from/to... i will post pics. That seems to be the most precise way of figuring out what i am looking for... still very very green here, sorry.

In order to measure your linkage lengths your wheels need to be set straight ahead (parallel to each other). The steering shaft needs to be set so the arms are equal distant apart. Then measure the distance between the holes where the heim rod ends are attached. The rods themselves will be somewhat shorter because of the heim end's body & a jam nut.
