Hello all. New member here. Always been a kart lover and I haven't had one in about 18 years. Well I just picked up a frame for my son (my excuse anyway, it's for daddy until he's big enough lol) and I'm working on a full restoration. I ordered new spindles for it and I'm looking for new tie rods.

My question is, for the tie rods, will I need 2 left hand thread and 2 right hand tie rod ends for the tie rods?

Yes. if you want to be able to adjust with out removing on end from the spindle, I believe they are usually sold in kits that provide you with the correct parts.

I seem most ends are the heim joint kind. This one came with the ball joint type. Any suggestions on tie rod ends to use? I've attached a picture.

:thumbsup:looks like a RUPP. judging by the front bumper and steering upright. But I am not sure what model. These are actually classic. So you may want to use whatever steering parts are like original.

If thats it then use that lol. Also, and just guessing here, but if it has those tie rods, and those are specifically for yerf-dog karts... probably a yerf-dog.

Besides that I cant be much help buddy.

I will more than likely have to use that kind in the link posted for the pitman arm but I would like to go with the heim joint on the spindles. Just like in the link.

I have noticed most rupps have an upward angle from the frame to the spindle. There is no angle on my kart. Just straight out from the frame.

Got the new spindles on and everything is smooth. I need to order my tie rods and tie rod ends. There is exactly 12 inches from each hole in the pitman arm to the spindle. My question is, do I need to order 12 inch tie rods, or should they be a little shorter to account for the tie rod ends. I don't want to order too much rod and the ends bot go down far enough to line up. I've attached a picture.

u got a perfect setup for proper Ackermann... a single rod from center to each spindle arm... cross the tierod ends at the center (right arm in left hole... and visaversa).

if you connect to the outside holes on the center... ull have issues turning...
