I'm making a 24v elec kart for my kids from scrap parts. I wondered what parts to use as a throttle. I had a linear potentiometer but it was old and burned out on the terminal. I have brought a voltage regulator with rotary potentiometer for overall speed control for when kids are on it. But I wanted a variable speed pedal as well. I can't find anything to make apart from a cordless drill trigger but wanted something better if possible. Any ideas?

Thanks for the reply I've wired a 240v drill trigger to the pedal and it's working. Just need to tidying the wiring now and it's done finally. I'll try and get pics when I work out how to do it.
