Throttle linkage troubles

just wondering if anyone has a sure fire way of running a throttle cable to my motor? I have tried several different methods and none have given me a smoothe operating throttle.
They are either to stiff or will not close when the pedals are released.
Plese help, a couple pictures may be of assistanc as well.

throttle Ideas?

Does anyone know if I could use bicycle brake or gear cables, such as the ones used on ten speeds etc?

Go to Wal Mart and get the brake cable repair kit. It comes with like 5 or 6 different lenght cables for 6 bucks or so. Thats what I did
