I've noticed a couple of posts on this subject, but only one response that made some sense, but it was on an older engine. I've got a 6.5 motor with a 'speed control' throttle lever (like for a lawn mower). I'd like to keep the govenor in the loop to keep my kids from accelerating too quickly and keep their top speed in check. How can I make this thing work? Do I just have to use a real strong return spring to get it back to idle? It is very stiff to move. Thanks

I'm using my governor as well for now, and if you drill a hole on the part that "slides and binds" on the governor, you can put a spring on that instead of the throttle. depending on design, you may be able to bend it out and away to keep it from bind as much.
if you put it on the same hole as the throttle cable, make sure they don't bind on each other. I would also consder bending a tab of metal down since most governors on industrial engines go past full throttle to choke, you don't want that happening (or putting a bolt behind the pedal thats adjustable so it can't go too far)
