hey ! its been a while ... so i purchased everything and its all set up,,, just need to get the metal and start building it

anyways, i got a throttle hook up kit from gokart galaxy along with the steering and brake kit ... i cant figure out how to hook it up at all

i hope u guys can identify the items
... there is a rod at the right end of the picture that connects to the throttle cable, supposedly throught a little hole on the rod, also there is a nut that goes around that rod, and a little screw that screws inside another not, an anchor and another metal piece ... - i ruined the cable tho - and then the rod connects to the pedals on the other end,, idk the use of anything else ( anchor, metal piece, screw and nut, the spring , the black thing ) or most importantly where to hook up the cable to the engine its a tecumse ( push the red throttle lever up and it accelerates) H80, ive been told by a member on here from texas forgot the name, he got a chicken for an avatar... jim something

tbh i wana get rid of the use of the rod ... i never seen a gokart thats fairly modern use a rod is throttle hook up, any ideas

guys i need help desperately, even my mechanic cant figure it out

p.s. sorry if its full of mistakes:oops: my keyboard is messed up cuz i spilled coffee on it

When I bought a throttle kit for a Briggs I was forewarned that for liability reasons it came without instructions, reasoning being that as it modified the manufacturer's design the Co. that sold it to me wasn't liable for anything that followed if they didn't tell me how to change it.

I am assuming when you put the red lever down all the way you are at idle. it sticks wherever you put it. if I am wrong tell me. if I am right then there should be a bolt to loosen that will let you move it freely, if this is so then all you need to do is use a spring to hold it in the down position and you will connect your throttle cable to pull the opposite direction of the spring, up.
guess #2 if that is wrong you put the red lever down and it turns off, if this is the case then I think the horizontal rod in the third pic at the very top is where your throttle cable should hook up and it will replace said rod.
before trying either of these you should try to move each piece manually and see what it does, just looking to see how something works can help loads.
good luck

nope, no instruction manual or anything,, should i contact the guy at gokart galaxy ??

when i put it alll the way down it shuts the engine. and what you mean its sticks ?
do you need another pic from the sides and all those connections ?? i really need help desperately

i really dont know any bolt on there except for the one on the carburatore cuz i scewed it all the way up and my engine didnt work and later on i understood why

edit: ok with my phone is better.. so does that mean all i need it pretty much a spring to pull the carbs valve and a throttle cable ?? and then fix up my pedal of course

You'll need to modify the linkage to free float, you will need use of a welder and the ability to install a return spring and proper mount for the cable. I hope that helps you.

I just sold a kart with the same engine and I forgot to take pictures of the throttle set-up. I'll do my best to explain.
1. Take the wire off the cut-off at the bottom of the throttle. You will hook up a kill switch to that wire.
2. Bend the tab marked with the green arrow out so that the throttle doesn't go all the way to the bottom of its travel. Do this while holding the throttle up. When you let go of the throttle, it will hit the bent part and stop. All this does is shorten the travel of the throttle lever.
3. Use a piece of wire from an old governor or a piece of piano wire with a "Z" bend and put it into the hole with a red circle. Pointing up.
4. Put a cable clamp to hold the throttle cable at (or above) the yellow circle.
5. Attach the rod and cable together.
Notch the lever at the brown circle and attach a return spring from there to the kart's engine mount.
That worked for me! Good luck!

ok i re-read it and i get the principles but there is still some confusion,, i know that this is ur way of setting up and there are alternatives,, do you think hookin it up to the butterfly valve on the carb ( i hope i named it right ) would still work with out posing any risks to breaking or hurt the engine ??
i will provide more explanation if i get answers

1. Take the wire off the cut-off at the bottom of the throttle. You will hook up a kill switch to that wire.

u mean that wire?(in the pic). it starts at some point and ends at another .. i never connected a kill switch ,,, never worked with engines to start with ... :l

2. Bend the tab marked with the green arrow out so that the throttle doesn't go all the way to the bottom of its travel. Do this while holding the throttle up. When you let go of the throttle, it will hit the bent part and stop. All this does is shorten the travel of the throttle lever.

the point here is to stop the level from coming all the way down and kill the engine,, i think i could use anything to make it stop ( piece of metal, bolt ... )

3. Use a piece of wire from an old governor or a piece of piano wire with a "Z" bend and put it into the hole with a red circle. Pointing up.

so why do i need that ? and what does it attah to ? cant i just put the throttle cable through that hole ?

4. Put a cable clamp to hold the throttle cable at (or above) the yellow circle.
would that be anything of the above items ? .-.

5. Attach the rod and cable together.
Notch the lever at the brown circle and attach a return spring from there to the kart's engine mount.
That worked for me! Good luck!
you mean that the arm should stop at this brown circle ?

if i wana get rid of the rod ,,, cuz idk modern gokarts dont have that, how will i be able to do that ?? from engine to pedal type of deal
and where does the cable connect at the engine at this point ? idk if i missed something in ur explantion but i dont see where itll go

i almost always apologize -.- but yah im too noob with engines, i allready called an old mechanic/alcoholic who works well with smalls engines and he didnt panic when he heard i want him to connect the throttle like i did,, but he wont be able cuz his car broke down and parts will be shipped to him in a while

You could use anything, but a twist of a screwdriver bends the tab and you're done quick.

so why do i need that ? and what does it attach to ? cant i just put the throttle cable through that hole ?

I don't like using a cable directly here because it is a tight fit and needs to be bent at a 90 degree angle. This will then be a weak point and could break after a while. I used an old governor wire that had a bend in it and it fit right in the hole.

Don't laugh at my new drawing, but it may be clearer to you.

no its actually pretty clear now ,,, BUUTTT !! lol
so the cable clamp holds the Z bent rod and the cable together ? and if one moves the other does too ??

and whats that square on the top close to the cable lol ?
also, i can weld on the engine yah ?

edit:
will i need any piece from the ones above ( from the first post )?
and if i can hook up the throttle on the butterfly valve, is there a possibility ??

Yes!

It's a clamp that you put a self tapping srew in to hold the cable. See pic below.
And you don't need to weld on the motor casing....but you can if you want.

and if i can hook up the throttle on the butterfly valve, is there a possibility ??
Don't hook up directly to the butterfly. You'll be by-passing the governor and bad things can happen unless you remove the internal parts of the governor.
