First off new here have a go kart im tinkering with im sure my question is in another thread but anyway I have a go kart with a tecumseh 6 hp motor and I recently got it to start up and run. Previously owned so I got it as a project. My question is the throttle is not right the cables working but not sure if its set up correct. In my pic you can get a feel how it is , just need a good tip on how to correctly set the throttle up right so the foot pedal controls it property. Any help?:idea2:

Tecumseh used a couple of different set-ups, but that ain't one of them. Can you post the model number? Looks like an 0HH60 series but the numbers after that are important.

I'm as confused as rocketkart: Two cables hooked up & neither is attached to the carb (in fact, I don't even see the carb). I think we need more detailed pics, maybe not as close up, move out a bit so we can get the full picture (so to speak)

It looks like the cable is connected straight onto the governor arm. The arem is quite a bit away from the carb. Have a look at the pic below. This is sort of where I think it is connected.

What's connecting the governor arm to the carb?
Is the cable connected to anything at the other end?
What is the second cable in the first pic in your first post

Let's see if we can get this going.

OK-First off, as you can see- the bottom of your governor arm is bent to h#ll. I can't see a lot in your pictures so you'll have to see if these match what you should have hooked up. I think that it will.

You are going to need some parts: (1)- 37111 throttle spring. (1)- 36711 governor link. You probably have this but it's only a buck or so, so you might as well get one to make sure you have the right one: (1)- 36632 throttle link. You can get these from jackssmallengines.com- just Google.

In the meantime, post up some pictures of the throttle cable from the pedal to the engine. Hope this helps.

Do you have a throttle plate like the center picture? I can't see how the throttle cable is attached to the gas pedal- need a close up. Is there a place to adjust the length of the cable? Do the pictures I posted match what you have? If not post up pictures of how it is different trying to duplicate the positions of my photos.

To the brake, possibly? Could that be one of those kiddie setups I see periodically, where the brake is supposed to override the throttle at the governor? The intent of such a setup is so that if a kid pushes the gas and the brake at the same time, the engine returns to idle to avoid cooking the clutch.

Had a kart set up goofy like that once....P O (or somebody else) had a cable from the break pettle (lol) to the govenor, and the standard throttle set up. The cable from brake pedal had slack in it so engine could run full rpm BUT if you pushed the brakes 3/4 or more , it would manually override the throttle and the more you pushed, the more it would drop. Brake fully depressed kept engine to an idle........
That crap came right off......

Ok, now I'm confused... If the cable you're pointing to connects to the pedal, where does the other cable go?

The other cable hooks to the brake in the picture shown is there a way to just get this thing where it will crank idle and when given gas go? :mad2:
