Throttle cable problems

New to having a go kart. My off road one keeps fraying the throttle cable. The cable goes through a bolt that you tighten down. After a while it begins to fray. Anyone have any ideas on how to stop this problem?

Post a closeup pic of how the cable attaches to the pedal. I suspect that there's room for improvement. For example- Can the bolt that holds the cable swivel freely through the arc of the pedal? Or does it make the cable bend?

if I under stand what your problem is. I 'tinned' the end with silver plumbing solder. on my bike I had the cable fray and pull out. It was going good, then there was a bad throttle response. I looked over the bike and it had pulled. After tinning, works great. The solder gives it more "sturdiness" to be clamped.

When u solder the cable, make sure you flux it well, and dont over heat it, as that will weaken the wire and it may break when it is pulled hard. Clean up the end and clamp.

Thanks guys. I did end up finding a factory cable with the end already soldered. That was the next step i was looking at except I thought of using melted down lead from a car weight.
