hey guys, i'm at a stand still. i'm having trouble figuring out what i can attach my throttle cable to.

as you see here, i don't have the choke/turtle-rabbit levers on mine, and the little doohicker that i mounted the return spring to is pretty much my only option right now, but i can't see a way to make/mount a bracket that will let the cable pull down on it. the cable doesn't fit between the flywheel shroud and the gastank. i tried putting the cable on top of the motor, and pullint toward the front of the kart on that same piece where it bends over and turns the butterfly, but it only worked for a little while before bending that piece upward and killings its ability to go back to idle speed. at this point, i'm thinking of building a bracket that works that same way, but maybe pulls more inline with that part's movement and avoid bending it again.

anyway, i'm trying to get ideas beyond what i already have, so if any of you guys are running a similar setup to mine, post up some pics of your throttle linkage/cable! i want to get my kart finished, and this is the only thing left do to! help me out, fellas!

does that carb have a little half circle with a screw hole by it in the part i circled, it's nice when they have those. if not then you could attach another piece of metal strait up and down to the one that bends over then mount the cable to the top of the engine

maybe? do you mean the black thing that gets turned for the choke? i'll go look right now.... at first i though that was a picture of your kart, and i'm like, wow! that guy's kart looks a lot like mine! LOL... i'll go take a better pic of the carby if i can and post that up. thanks.
EDIT: so yeah, i'm pretty sure i know what you're talkin about now, and yeah i think my kart does have that little deal. so now, how do i make it work to my advantage? if i put the cable there, it would be pulling the wrong way, right?

so here's a couple pics of what i have. sorry they suck, it's dark and snowy at my house, and i didn't really have the best lighting. kart was under a tarp that weighed a ton with all the snow on it....

i think you just gave me my solution, friend! i'm thinking now that i can mount the cable there, and mount it directly to the butterfy flapper thingy, and pull from a completely different place i never thought of! woot! maybe i can ride this beast a little more tomorrow!:cheers2: not sure how to thank somebody on the forum, but consider yourself thanked!

you just showed me a picture of what was in my head! thanks fellas! the kart will be up and running by noon tomorrow! i can't wait to do some donuts in the snow! this thing was scary fast, but was really spooky when it wanted to go full blast after some stuff broke loose. i had to unplug the sparkplug wire with the bare hands! (zap!)

ok, my carby is a little different from anderkart's, so how should i attach the end of the cable to the carb? i don't really have a hole to put the cable in, should i make one? can i attach it where the idle speed screw goes? my cable isn't long enough, so i'm gonna hafta go buy a bicycle cable and make it work, so while i'm out, what else should i get?
thanks again, fellas...

also, anybody know what size/ thread pattern that hole is for mounting the black part of the cable?

yeah you'll have to drill a little hole in that plate, easiest way to find a bolt that fits is to measure the size of the hole and get 3 or so bolts that might fit and return the ones that don't, don't forget a little washer too

alrighty then....i just bought a new cable from a bike shop fo $2, and there's a little metal clip thingy that the original cable had connecting it to the governor, so i'm all set there! looks like now all that's left to do is get a bolt that fits in that threaded hole and a washer, and maybe a tiny bolt and nut to hold the clip on the little plate once i drill a hole in it.... thanks for the wisdom, guys! i'm sure something else will pop up that i'll hafta ask about soon, so stay tuned! when i get it going, i'll post up a video on my thread "just got my first kart!" the motor runs really well now, and after another tank of gas i'll change the oil, and we should be broken in and ready to ride for real!
