Throttle cable barrel sizes

Hi guys.
While Ive been doing my other project my daily rider broke its gas/air cable. I bought a new one after measuring but this new one has a barrel thats too large. I looked back at the listing and quite a.few.more and couldnt find any references to barrel sizes when selecting a cable. Should I just drill out my gas pedal hole a bit or is there a better way to shop for gas cable.

Its just supposed to slip in. What would be threaded? It would work if the barrel end were smaller or the opening on the pedal were bigger.

Then you may need to open it up some to make it fit.
