I'm a bit confused with the throttle on my gokart. On the carburetter there is a cable that controls the engine speed and on the bevel gear box for the self drive system, there is a cable that controls if the engine is powering the wheels. Which is for the throttle and clutch. Should I have the two pedals side by side so when I press the accelerator the clutch is press at the same time. Should I use the bevel gearox at all? The engine is a two stroke so can be turned on its side. If I dont use the bevel gear box would it be best to use a cable or a chain? By the way i'm using an engine from a Victa two stroke lawnmower. This is from a push mower? That gearbox wont last. As far as the drive system goes, a chain doesnt slip, but requires a clutch. but if you use a belt, you can use a belt tensioner setup.

If you are willing to spend some time converting your vertical engine to horizontal, that may be your best option for your budget. Russ: http://www.diygokarts.com/vb/member.php?u=727
seems to have quite a bit of experience converting engines, mabe try messaging him about how he does it. The other option would be getting a right angle gear box, but those are usually pricey.

Its a two stroke, virtually nothing required to make it horizontal. If it doesnt have a diaphragm carb then you'll have to rotate it, and make a mounting plate but thats about it.
