He says we can bump start it to see it run, if I bring gas and a fuel line (got plenty of line bought a huge 200 foot roll at a yard sale lol). I couldn't find a kickstarter though, any ideas? Here's the link to it http://cnj.craigslist.org/bar/4237403045.html

skip it. it may run good for a week and thin it will need a new top end and it looks like its been ran ruff.i can see some kind of oil or somthing spot on the floor underneath it to and thats not good.

I'm prob gonna just look at it he's only 20 miles from me. See what it looks like and do a compression test.

The spot is prob two stroke oil and gas since the fuel line leaked

If compression is lower than 130 don't even consider it. looks beat to me. a kick start can be a huge repair depending. if its the actual gear inside, you have to split the cases, if its just the lever, its easy. A bike that old, isnt worth more than 600 in mint condition. the way it sits i'd consider 300 if its got good compression. Also check chain and sprockets, those run quite a bit to replace, as does suspension parts on older bikes like that.

That wouldn't spin the engine fast enough to get any type of useable reading. And if the seller suggests towing it to test it, run as far away as possible, as fast as you can.......

i still say skip on it that thing does not look good but that just me. if i where you i'd go pick me up a nice 125cc pit bike for abot $250 on cragslist.

... the phrases... "You get what you paid for." and "Patience is a virtue".... come to mind reading this post/replies.

If 'visually' you see something worth the price asking then it's 'possibly' worth it... but when it comes to things you cant see(hidden flaws), and everything you see/hear is against the purchase... it's a good indication you should wait... or you could find out the hard/expensive way, 'why' you got it for such a price!

The TV show 'Fast n loud' shows the down falls, weekly, of blind purchases(but they have the $$$ to replace/fix the 'flaws' at will... most/all on here are on here to DIY='cheaper' way of getting things done 'vs' paying someone to do it)... so w/ that bit of info and your question... it IS probably more of a headache than its worth... just my/our opinion.

Thats a nice little project. Maybe a little bit high in price. Its a KX so parts arent hard to find. If you have basic mechanical ability then replacing some line and even replacing engine gaskets and a carb rebuild kit wont be hard to do. Who the bike for? 125cc is kinda small but as long as its not a CVT tranny it will be fun to ride even with a small motor. CVT just plain sucks on a bike. Another option would be to get a honda clone on ebay for but id just fix tthe kawa motor. bet theres a big bore for that motor too. Just know some parts are no longer made and will be expensive. My 1977 kawasaki trailmaster cost me $100 for a clutch cable and another $100 for a throttle cable off ebay since its a NOS part.
