Thinking of making a mini chopper as summer project...

I just have some begginers questions...
I understand all the terminoligy, so no need to dumb it down...

1.If I dont have a welder, how much would it cost me to buy like a used one thats crappy online...and do they rent them at home depot or ace hardware, lowes, etc.?

2. I know that in the walkthrough it says you can do it without a metal bender, and I dont have one, so what tools would I need to weld at a specific angle?

3. how much would this potentially cost, if I got the cheapest everything? I have a B&S 4hp horizontal engine already, and I have plenty of 3/4" piping.

well, if you look in the yellow pages you could find a place that will weld for you

hi buddy,

1. Cheaper to go out and buy a cheap arc welder. depending on where you get it around $100 au (most likely cheaper in the US, stupid inflation and taxes in Australia)

2. Yes you can do it without a pipe bender but it probably wont look as nice. Tools used to cut/shape the metal for angles are either cut-off saws, angle grinder or notching tools.

3. as for this last question the sky is the limit. look around at scrap places for wheels etc. northern tool also has a good selection of go kart/ mini bike parts.

dont worry about making it look good. You are a fellow noob like me so people wont expect the bike to be professional.

Welders are kind of expensive, but whenever something breaks in my house. The welder is the only tool that can securely fix it.
I cant do without it. Im sure theres alot of cheap welders out there. try Craigslist.

at this stage a pipe bender is useless. Its a tool you use more often when you go into professional bends and what not.

by far the wheels and hubs are the hardest part to find. I can never seem to find a proper set that can house my sprocket.
