Folks - I understand that this drive wheel spacer (Item #17) is unobtainum. I will use (6) individual steel spacers to take its place, one for each bolt. Can anyone tell me by measuring their own 8008 spacer how thick this spacer is; that is the part of the spacer the 5/16-18 bolt passes through? If you didnt't have one either, what did you do in its place?

Yeah Denny, I'll be using 5/16-18 x 6" Grade 8 Hex thread bolts, Grade 8 nuts and 11/32" ID steel spacers from boltdepot.com. I'll screw the bolts in from the face side through the rim and stack up spacers and nuts as needed to line up the sprocket with the centrifugal clutch sprocket and the 4" brake drum with the brake band.

Just using nuts to space them apart doesn't seem as strong, would be hard to keep the spacing even and the fewer things I have to keep tightening the better. I'll loctite everything after I've dry fitted it.

Thank you for your help

Use some hollow 1/2" stock steel tubing and cut to 6 equal lengths that meet your spacing needs. I've made my own many times and works just fine. My drawings don't make sense(right Hellion? :ROFLMAO: ), otherwise I would make on for you explaining it.

My ace hardware has spacers in small lengths just like that. 6 pieces might be more than a chunk of tube if you go that route.
Its not rocket surgery. If you can weld, then a few chunks of flat strap welded on when the spacers are installed would make the supports.

Makes me want to get my hands on an 8008 spacer just because it’s a Holy Grail item, that and the Carter Brothers “clover hub” of which both are essentially the same thing.

I’ve been such a live axle snob all this time, but I want a one wheel peel now. They're quirky. 🤪

Nothing like a left side drive one wheel peel while taking a left hand turn burning that tire up!! There is just something about it that puts a huge smile on my face.

Spinning tires arent going forward as fast as they could be...
Gotta keep that traction.

Now spinning both tires... that's where it is.

Yes, that is the beautiful thing about one wheel peel! As a kid and putting together are contraptions, they were mostly one wheel drive. It is mostly memories, but great ones. Couldn't wait for those left hand turns to hear those tires bur4n some rubber.

And of coarse, once you get that live axle with some HP, everything changes!

Last one wheel peel I had was a build I did around 2012. I ran through the neighborhood and hit the school parking lot by my house. Started doing left hand burnouts and giggled like a little kid.
