Just an update regarding this project. A video link of my daughter enjoying her first extended ride in the kart with the body (see link at end of this post). Although the body is well ventilated, I do feel that, in extreme heat, it causes the engine to overheat somewhat. We experienced this last Friday during a very hot day. The kart ran for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes, following me on my zero turn mower while I was cutting the grass at the back of our property (4 acres). When I finished our training fields my daughter drove past and smoke started pouring out the back. I signalled to her yelling "you are on fire" to which she promptly stopped the kart and got out. The kart picked up idle and rolled off the field into the rhubarb (I need to move the kill switch off the engine, which is covered with the large, cumbersome body and into the kart cockpit). After reaching in and shutting it down, we pulled it out of the brush and checked it over. No damage. Took the body off and proceeded to check throttle linkage, which seemed fine. Went to check the oil and it spurted out, thin and hot... ugh. We let it cool down and I started it and checked it over.. ran perfect. I had my daughter follow me back to the house with the instructions to hammer and hold the brakes if it idled up again and, if necessary, drive it into the back of my zero turn (John Deere 930) if she needs to and I will stop them. No problems occurred, machine ran like a top from then on. Any suggestions regarding the high idle would be appreciated, I have a feeling that overheating may be the problem, perhaps causing expansion in parts allowing more air to be drawn into the motor, creating a surge???

Regardless, the video attached will give you an idea of how the kart works with my little girl at the wheel... she has a very light foot and is a cautious driver, LOL, unlike her father.
