so my friend and i finally decided on what to build. we are taking my sears tractor and changing the gearing to make it fast.

pulleys will most likely be ordered tonight.

my friend user name on here is homemadegokarts1221.

here is what we made it look like today. mods are: removed vibration dampeners from engine mounts. (engine shook too much). removed all the mower deck components because i dont even have the deck. moved the key switch to the side of the dashboard. removed the hood and front panel.

we are trying to keep it light as possible. (wheelies and speed)

heres a video from today

we will keep you guys updated.

Ide keep the hood, lower the steering wheel, and make the seat sit much lower... I think that would be cool. Id do something like that, however Ive got too many projects right now...

Hey there, me and my friend made a racing lawn mower about a year ago and they fly. We didn't lower the frame at all but we did lower the seat and moved the gas tank to the front. we also added a rad fan from a civic because we noticed it over heated a bit. And thank the lord for JB weld.

woah you really changed that ratio. i got the hood back on the sears and adjusted the carb. the engine runs alot cooler now and idles nice.

owen just ordered a 4" pulley so we should get that by the end of the week. then, we need to find a right sized belt. maybe the hardware store can help. if not, back to the internet.

Should really flip the entire front axle on that thing and drop it. Cut the rear mounts and move them up to match the front (or leave a slight rake.) If you want some pictures of this process I'll have some soon as I kinda want to lower my old MTD and murder it out flat black. Im thinking I might keep it in the back of my lowered Datsun, which is also currently flat/satin black...as a joke lolol.

I have to admit I had to change that ratio because the belt was slipping to much so I changed the rear gear to 4".

u should strip it down and clean all the grease out then put some gasket maker down and seal it back up
then fill it with gear oil

that helps apparently

How about putting smaller tires all around so no cutting or chopping. Go down to the scrapyard and take the tires off one of the rear engine riders, they usually have 11in front 16in back.

one problem. theres no scrapyard like.. in the state lol. none. zero.

at this point i think were just going to test it with the 4" pulley when it comes in, and if it is too slow we need a bigger one. once we get the ratio right we will think about tranny work.

if this tranny blows... its either going to be dead for a while, or fixed and correctly race modified.

i have a 5 speed peerless that has a crack that needs to be welded (alum) so maybe we will just put that in it.
