I noticed some of the neighbors have viewing platforms, like lifted patios or observation decks, I want one too, I called the county and found out it can be 30' in height- insane right?! we'll I mentioned it to my dad, he was thinking about building one too but his wife talked him out of it, my idea got him excited and he's ready to build them together, don't forget he lives deeper in New River than I do, about 6 miles away

so are we going to 30'? you bet your gokart we are. and why? well we can. but at 30' you get some really cool benefits- cooler temps than on the ground, multiple "decks" so the "flight" deck is at 30' with full sky view and the deck itself is water tight, so if it's raining you can hang out on the deck under the deck, henceforce named the DUD and not get wet, and how about a zip line for the kids? both adolescent and mature ;-), and to be super silly, I will look for a sheet or blanket with the Eye of Sauron on it to shade us on one side, it will be the talk of the neighborhood for sure

first we need to decide on design, then permits, then construction, luckily no one will be able to physically interfere with this project

while this may sound completely disgusting I have an idea! fashion a urinal on the DUD as it will have privacy curtains, the urinal will attach to a hose which will run straight in to the ground where we have excavated and backfilled with gravel, it's kind of like a dry well leach pit, should be plenty sufficient as it won't get a ton of use and there should be no odor

wow sounds good Is itjust by itself in your yard or attached to something?

Like that eye of sauron idea theyll feel like their being wathed all the time pretty kewl

I would totally build an eye-shaped grid of pipe and expanded metal on the roof. Drill orifices every few inches and pipe propane to it. Light that sucker up after dark.

had almost the same thought on my drive home today anickode before reading this reply LOL, even considered making the "horns" or the "tusks" out of sheet metal to hold it in place

I think as long as the urinal doesn't get used too often, you should be good to go. Any regular use and you are going to have odour problems.

The cleared easement is looking good. It just now needs some leveling to be the same as the rest of the road. I am not sure what the rest of the road is made out of (if gravel or any hard pack dirt was used), but you might have to do the same in the easement otherwise you are going to have major soil movement and erosion there with cars going over it and also when it rains

I see us having a gallon of water up there to "flush" so I'm not thinking odor will be an issue

my dad did get the spreader and has asked me to come over to help him rig it up, am I searching for asphalt tailings to lay in the road to cut down dust and not move too much in rain, I'm only setting them up with a new road, it's up to them to maintain it, and if they dont it's their problem, not mine

can you help me identify this component from our well house? I think somehow it converts 220V to 110V but I'm not sure

on more thought, maybe it is a pressure switch, cutting power to the pump if it gets too high, see there is power going straight to the well head, then this comes over and it appears to be plumbed to the line, then some wires go to the 110v receptacle

That's the pressure switch that cycles the pump.

Power goes from the mains, to the pressure switch, to the well pump. Pump runs, builds up pressure in the bladder tanks. When it hits cutoff pressure (usually around 50 psi) it kills the power. As you use water, the charge pressure drops, closing the switch and the cycle starts over.

It's exactly like the innards on a compressor switch, just with a lighter spring. (Usually 30-50 psi instead of 100-130 or whatever your compressor cycles at)

right on guys thanks, looks like the power comes in through the 110v receptacles, then goes to the switch, then the control unit for the pump, we're going to backfeed the system with a generator when we lose power this monsoon season so I was looking at options

I was not describing the "spreader" properly, my dad brought home a box scraper, or box blade, we'll likely level the easement with it today or tomorrow, but we need to get some small parts for it first

and that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you move a road

we're going to let them marinate on that for a couple of weeks then finish the fence, so the rocks are simulating the fence and preventing them from driving on my land, and most of those rocks require heavy equipment to move so I'm not worried that they'll wander at night
