I just got an apology email from the inspector's manager, funny they didn't mention the inspector by name

so I came home Tuesday and found a notice attached to my permit with orange stickers that says "REJECTED", they're official forms from the county but not from the right department, I sent the image to the county official who helped me apply for my permit and he's investigating, I bet one of these lousy neighbors has a friend at county that did that, I hope that person gets in trouble

They inappropriately left the notice. I followed up in an email called him out but kept it professional. I asked for the case number for the code violation they were investigating. As I've unleashed a fury of code violations against the other team I found I could look up all things related by parcel number and 2 complaints came up on my house in the past couple weeks, thankfully the county dismissed them, however I believe this manager is lying to me and I'm trying to flush it out.

as for my camera on the pole, I've decided to run aircraft wire from the house to pole and extend the 12V wires so the transformer is in the house, the aircraft wire will support the 12V wires, hopefully there wont be enough voltage drop to affect the camera

Almost all of the guts in consumer electronics like that actually run on 5v and/or 3.3v that is regulated down from a higher supply voltage. Assuming a generic linear regulator, they could probably tolerate the supply sagging as low as 7v.

Do any of you have experience with these cameras? I have a Bayit wifi camera which looks identical to the Night Owl system I bought, I would love to get the Bayit camera connected to the DVR, but I believe Night Owl uses a proprietary signal from DVR to cameras and back, can I configure the Bayit camera to that signal?

It depends on which camera models you have from each company and whether the Night Owl recorder has RJ45 or BNC or TV coax connectors. I tried to get an idea myself, but the Night Owl site kind of sucks.

There are inexpensive ethernet-to-coax network adapters and expanders made by Actiontec. Caveat emptor though. My Actiontec WiFi modem-router is crap on a good day and doesn't support any third-party firmware that would make it less crappy.

ah, the night owl NVR is totally wireless, the cameras communicate with the NVR on the 2.4Ghz signal, same frequency used by wifi

Good to know. The signal is probably encrypted on some level to prevent easy eavesdropping and if so, making a 3rd party camera work would require some reverse engineering of the signal format.

If you remember I asked for recommendations for a plasma cutter under $1,000 a while back ago. I pass a neighbor's house a few blocks from here on my way out of New River every time I come and go, I frequently see him welding in his garage. So finally I stopped and greeted him. Nice guy but a little strange. Turns out we both took Welding 101 through GCC so we hit it off, only problem is my affiliations and him being Phoenix PD (what the F***). Well he has a Lotos plasma/TIG/stick combo he got for $500 and that inspired me to look at cheap Chineee plasmas, I ordered this one from Amazon since the reviews are pretty solid, I'll give you updates once I start using it. I opted for plasma only since I have more welders than I use at one time anyway.

daughter crashed the kart, bent the tie rod and spindle. good opportunity to teach her some more wrenchin, she was happy to do it rather than spend money on new parts, also good time to tell her to always call me when she crashes and I'll do what I can to get her out of a jam, sorry the pictures are not oriented properly, does that when I upload from my iPhone

not out of the woods yet but yesterday was a HUGE win, maybe? buried the hatchet with a couple of the more aggressive neighbors. after some heated chit chat dude started helping us, one last rock won the battle yesterday, it is probably 800-1,000 lbs, and seated firmly on/in caliche, we chained (2) 3/4 ton trucks together and used a recovery anchor, tried to winch the rock out while also using the back hoe to pull on it, barely budged, nabe told me he'll bring jackhammer home tonight so we can beat it

all in all I think they finally see my vision and hopefully all the fighting is over, time will tell, I'll help get that last rock cleared, smooth the new road before finishing the fence project

plasma cutter is saweet, I'll post more about it in the tools area, neighbors are still touchy, most of them are drunks so I've been dealing with alternative versions of themselves

I think I'm gettin ready to pull the trigger on a wood stove, to my surprise, Maricopa County does NOT require a permit! I would've gotten one if they did though, these folks are quick to complain out here. I'm shopping Northern Tool but may wait for the one I want to go on sale

we finally jackhammered that last rock somewhat blocking the easement, 2 of us with hammers, took all day, of course we needed heavier hammers, and how cool is it, the guy in the orange shirt used to be on the other team

while we did this my dad came along and bulldozed any remaining berms/rocks out of the easement, it almost looks like a proper road now

my dad will try to borrow or buy a spreader this week so we can totally level the road and I'll be shopping for asphalt tailings to lay over the dirt
