Part of the mystery of life is not knowing how long we have on this earth so, we should make the most of every day, live without regret & live each day as if it's you last; having said that, just about no one follows those guidelines & squanders their lives away; some are lucky a get a "wake up call" but, not all...
In 1990, my brother died from cancer at the age of 33, that was difficult & I still miss him; in 1997, my father died at the age of 75; some would call it sudden but, it still took him 4 days from the time he was hospitalised to the time he died; when Dad died, it was a relief, he was "out of his misery" (for lack of a better term)...
My father was 48 when I was born & suffered most of his adult life with a rare condition called pagets disease, a condition which softens & hollows bones so, I never saw him as an "active" man & he was in constant pain...
On the other hand, my brother never stopped, he always has his hand in a few pies; everyone was shocked (but, not surprised) when he was diagnosed & he lasted another 3 years before finally "giving up"...
I think of myself as a combination of the two, I like to be active but, physically, I can't be; I usually have a few projects going at the same time & always have more in my mind but, I can only do one at a time...
Would I want to die young? Yes, because I watched my father suffer in pain for years & I don't want to end up the same way, feeling what I feel now (physically)...
On the other hand, I have an 11yo daughter, I want to see her grow up, get married, have kids, etc...
When I die, do I want it to be sudden? ABSOLUTELY! I'm suffering now, should I have to suffer even more while I'm waiting to die?
