I have HEARD of people breaking the opposing fin off, but i'm not sure what the side affects could be from doing that.

I have zero experience with points and condenser engines, but it does look like the block at least had the mounting bosses cast into the block for the magneto. you could pull that cover off and see if there is any old electronics in there, but unless the engine is giving you trouble, it probably doesn't matter.

look up the part # for the correct flywheel for your engine, i can already see one difference between that flywheel and yours.

how did you break that fin off? maybe your neighbor was starting it with his weird screwdriver method and it broke off? if i understood his method correctly i would think it would put a lot of force on the fins.

P.S. if i were you i would clean all that crap under the flywheel, maybe take off some of that paint too, or paint the rest of the engine that should be painted.

i dont wanna do that, just incase, and it does look like that, and i did pull off the cover, being me and it actually looks pretty new, looks like it was never ran with the condensor, i cannot find a number on the flywheel anywhere, so im not sure, and no he said that when after i left (we had just poured clr on it) and i had to leave and of course left it there as it was pouring down rain, he said he had tried to stop the flywheel with the screwdriver seconds after and when he hit the old starter it broke the fin, causing it un balance, of course after waiting two minutes for it to soak in it broke loose, and trust me im going to be cleaning under it, the condesor and points like brand new, like they were never ran. you know there hold on by a 6.3 mill socket? anyways, theres a pic of the points and condensor

go to the briggs and stratton website and punch in your model numbers. then click the exploded parts diagrams. find the flywheel and theres the part number.

well i just thought id upadate, baught the flywheel from my neighbor, off of his raptor, and put it all together, we put in an advanced timing key also, it helped the engine when firing, but you had to give it some gas at times to keep it going, and also when it last died, it let out a big backfire, so much smoke it looked like the engine caught on fire, dont know if its do to the timing, or if its from somthing else, working on getting a straight pipe tommarow, and one big peice of chain thats ONE size, and my recoil has a bad knocking problem, when its there it knocks like crazy and makes terrible noise, i know its not the engine because we rope started it the last time to make sure it wasnt anything else,so as of right now, i need chain,a few more mounting bolts, and a new recoil for an engine with a started clutch, also this is a briggs and stratton from exactley the 70's

no, once you start it, it knocks badley because of the pull start it pulls it in because of how fast its turning and it knocks bad

well got my new straight pipe today, turns out the carb needed some tuning big time to just the right places on both idle and mixture, weve found it, you have to give it some throttle before taking off the choke and run it a minute well giving it some gas, but once it decides to warn itself up, it runs nice on the high end and has a nice idle, there pics of the bike right now,i just need chain and some master links, and a vid of it running soon

BTW there is no need or since in racking that throttle like that, remember your dealing with an engine and a mini bike that is probably older than you are. if you treat it right it will give you many fun hours of use, but if you hot rod it, it's gonna leave you stranded.

theyre bolth older than me, ive had the mini bike a while, and its been through an old tecumseh, had a clone on it, just got a new clone, then that went to my kart so i got this briggs for the bike, i love to ride and its given me many hours when it did run. i dont hot rod it much, just a little bit, i treat my engines with care

For what it is it sounds okay to me.
Strip everything off of it, strip all the paint, repaint it and get a clutch, you could probably get $300-$400 for it.

the bike is never getting sold. it was a present for my birthday from my grandma and it holds alot of good memories, if anything goings its my kart and that might be traded as a roller for a manco, when i get sick of the color, itll get taken off, and it has a clutch on it, every things getting hooked up, and im going riding for a while tommarow as the last day of summer, and is it just the straight pipe making it sound so weird? ive never had a straight pipe
