tecumseh tries to die at idle like cammed car.

My Tecumseh 6.5 hp engine lopes like a harley trying to die at idle. When I go WOT it just dies. Could this be the carb.. It cranks right up every time but I can't drive 40 yards. It can idle over 5 min without stalling. I'm tired of this go kart. It's never run since I bought it. It has clean fresh gas, spark plug properly gapped at 30 clean air filter. My 5 hp Tecumseh doesn't sound at all like that.

sounds like lack of fuel flow. does it have a carb with a primer bulb?

Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel; try swapping filters/ cleaning the carb.

It doesn't have a primer bulb. It has a lever for a choke. It's ther. 0hh65 motor. I'm getting the carb cleaned tomorrow. After the carb was cleaned on my 5hp, it ran like a jewel.

Also, I can see the throttle opening and shutting as it sits at idle. I didn't even know it could do that. And I know there's no clog in the line. i've drained the fuel twice. I'm in bed with my wife now smelling like straight gas.

Called surging and is due to a lean mix. Easy to verify.

I'm getting the carb rebuilt over the next two days. Will let you guys know how it goes. The last tecumseh ran like a jewel after rebuilding the carb.

Thanks guys, it cranks fine after the cleaning . It also runs ok. Still tries to die at WOT. i can patit and it whill stay cranked. I don't have a seal between the carb and motor. Doyou think this could cause a problem.
