Guys thanks for the tips.

About the bowl gasket-my repair kit came with a new one, but this last time when I pulled the bowl off again to adjust the floats I found that the gasket would not go back in... No worries, I kept the old one and popped it right back on and it fit PERFECTLY.. The new one.. Like trying to put a size 13 foot into a size 8 shoe. The O-ring was larger than the lip around the float bowl. Regardless, it never leaked at the bowl to carb mating area with either of the 2 seals.

I'll fiddle with it some more tomorrow and see what I can come up with. No time to mess with it today as I worked 13 hours.. Tired.. Kids won't be able to ride it until the weekend anyway as it is dark by the time they are done with homework.

Well, I have applied the most recent "fix". Now let's see if that is all she needed.

I did end up replacing the emulsion tube O-rings. When I pulled the tube out this time, I found that there was only 1 O-ring still on the tube. The one that seals against the end of the main jet-and it was crumbling. The top O-ring was completely missing. For those of you who find yourself in this situation-Home Depot sells the EXACT O-ring needed for that tube. They are in the plumbing section (look by the toilet repair parts section) and are #60. I have 8 left over so if anyone wants/needs them, I'd be happy to drop them in an envelope and mail them to you for free.

I flipped the seat over in the carb so that the side with the grooves, or ring, is now touching the carb casting.

My new air filter fell apart. From being saturated with gas, the foam seal around the edges turned into a jelly in some areas, and just fell apart in others. After getting a new filter, putting the carb back together, and back on, it seems to be working. I'll need to let it sit a day or so to see if gas starts dripping out of it again. Can't ride it right now as my son pulled a Mario Andretti and blew the front tire out. He tried to turn too sharply and just caught the tire on a tree root that sticks up. It ripped the dry-rotted tire apart.

Like before I elevated the drive tire off the ground and ran it full throttle for a while and it is no longer hesitating and blowing black smoke. I think I have it resolved. But, I've said that before and it bit me in the B-hind.

Next on the list, since one front tire is blown, and the other is dry-rotted, I plan on putting the front end off a chinese 4 wheeler on it. That way there will be suspension, A-arms, & bigger front tires. I bought the complete 4 wheeler for $20. The engine runs, but the bearings in the rear swing arm are shot. I don't care about that as I don't need the swing arm anyway. Anybody need a running 49CC engine? It came with a key as well. I may have to try and incorporate the key into the kids go-kart. Would be neat if it did not start without the key.. Then they would lose the key. I can already see it. I guess I'll have to secure the key to the cart with wire cable. I plan on moving the hydraulic brake over to the kids kart as well. I'm thinking about using the drive sprocket as the rotor for the brake caliper.

I've got the rear swing arm off an old Manco go cart that I may try to graft onto this cart. It is live axle, with larger tires. If I can, I'll graft it onto the kart, and move the kids seat back. They are both right at that point where the kart is starting to get cramped. If they had more leg-room, it would be better. Might make it possible for me to ride it then too.. Ha ha. I'd probably just tear it up though.

Will post back and let everyone know if it works.

Well the cart seems to be running fine. Kids are out riding it right now. Replaced the front wheel temporarily with one of the wheels that Northern Freight sells for $9.99. I think this wheel was meant for a small wagon, or dolley. It bolted right on and allowed them to ride it while I dismantle the chinese quad for the parts I need.

Engine is running really well on the Tecumseh now that I got the carb problems sorted.

I may document the changes made on the kids cart as it looks like it should be fairly straight forward. I'll take some before & after pics as the work progresses. Now that the cart is running I don't want to take it out of commission as the kids would probably hang me! I'll have to work on it during the week while they are in school.
