was given a OHH50-68002F
carb was hanging off, no needle and seat, governor linkages all gone,
put in new needle and seat, bolted back on intake with new gaskets, put air box frame back on (filter and cover gone) got a filter just zip tied over the opening for now. got new governor bits as I thought it was proper to restore to original before bypassing things.
Pulled bowl screw, ensured holes were free, set float level.
Will only fire with a shot of starting fluid and will idle but will stall on throttle up, can sometimes coax to into more rpms but only briefly then stalls out. Plug is new looking but wet.
Planning on going back into the carb and trying to pull the emulsion tube, that's about all that's left of the carb I haven't gone after yet I think.

Have a look at these links for some info. Have you made sure that there is no air being sucked in passed any of the gaskets? Are you sure the carb is spotlessly clean? The fact that the engine pops with some starter flued but doesn't run, is an indication that it is a fuel delivery issue

Pics??

Finally had a chance to do a proper carb tear down, I suspected it was missing bits, yep, there's no emulsion tube in there at all, that's probably not something to be missing, hunting for a source......
tube/nozzle and o-rings it looks like I need

Not much luck so far looking up parts. The carb itself doesn't give many clues;
flange number worn so bad can only read; 5023xxxd7y(x's are the digits can't make out)
inside bowl: 4C 811-0312
listed in engine parsts as 640017b
Any help on which nozzle I should try much appreciated.

Have you tried looking at Jacks Small Engines for parts

I just picked up an emulsion tube (red) and 2 O-rings at a lawn mower repair shop. They were $7.50. Just take the carb to a repair/parts place. If they're any good, they'll find the right one. Chances are it's the red tube.

Yes, I tried Jack's but couldn't discern the exact nozzle number.
Called the shop I've been harassing, they got 'em, nozzle: 640019, needs two 0-rings. They got those too. I should be set. About $6 totalish. Here's hoping that makes things work better.
Will be annoying you all with governor/linkage/throttle cable hook up q's soon though!

installed, still runs poorly but we managed to tear up the lawn briefly yesterday so that's a start, running throttle cable right to the governor arm (not kosher I don't believe) but working, worried the engine will grenade but if it's always under load, it really shouldn't I wouldn't think
