So what is it? Valve lash? Sheared flywheel key?
The suspense is killing me. I woke up in a cold sweat wondering about your Teckasheema engine.

If you have spark and compression and it still won't start on carb cleaner, you have a sheared key.
The timing is off so the spark is not happening when it needs to.

First, check the coil gap, if it is ok then....
Pull the flywheel off and show us the broken key.
The key ain't sheared, but I just bought a predator 212 hemi, and I'm rebuilding the old 6 horse:rolleyes:

Same symptoms and set up....Help !!!

I have the same issues as Dirtracingchamp...I was hoping for his response as to if he ever got his fixed or not.

I have spark...weak or not ? ...I got spark
compression - yes
gas - yes
kill switch - tried connected /disconnected
cleaned carb & jet
tried carb cleaner - didnt fire off
checked the flywheel key last...it appears intact.

Does rust on flywheel effect contact ??
Any ideas ??????

Maybe try a new spark plug? Simple. cheap. Worth a shot.

I’ve always just used a piece of paper folded in half and if that didn’t work fold it to three layers and so on. That applies to any magneto I’ve had to mess with.

Chiming in here...
I have the same problem on the same engine.
-tried new carb, and cleaned and rebuilt the old carb. plenty of gas is coming up the red tube in carb.
-confirmed that the sheer key is 100%
-changed the spark plug
-swapped out a known, working ignition coil. (I can see spark)
-tried it with/without air filter
-tried it with and without the gas tank open
-confirmed that the breather was clean and working
-removed the low-oil wire from the kill switch (I saw spark)
-tried to start it with a drill on the crank

My engine had only about 30 hours on it too.

Just throwing this out there but I just got my mower running after two weeks of swapping carburetors, changing the spark plug, removing the fuel tank and changing the fuel filter to no avail. Ended up being the manually operated fuel shut off valve. I noticed the knob for the valve was binding slightly, didn't give it much thought until everything else checked good. There is a nylon plug down in the valve with a hole drilled in it. When the valve is turned to OFF, the nylon plug turns to block the fuel from the tank. When turned to ON, the plug hole lines up with the fuel hose allowing fuel to flow. The nylon plug was bound up and was almost closed off. Figured I'd toss that out there for one more thing to try for people with these odd performance issues.

Thanks
