Hello, I just bought a new tecumseh oh195xa-71228j from a store for good deal since the carb was missing. I'm trying to get a carburetor for it and according to "partstree" I was able to find out it should have a TEC-640346 carb but I was wondering if I could get something cheaper. I intend to use the engine for fun by motorizing something, maybe a bike. I was also looking at generic carbs on the internet and wanted to do some research before getting one. Can someone please help me figure out what direction to go in with the carb?

Ebay, you'll find a good used one there much cheaper than the new ones at parts places. Tecumseh is out of business so the prices for the discontinued stuff has skyrocketed. I quoted a guy $120 for a carb setup for a Tec just a few weeks ago.. rediculous

That's what I'm trying to figure out but I'm new to this stuff. So far I've thought about using a 200ish cc carb and know I need a manual choke and throttle on it.

I found a new one for around $70ish online but since I see people complaining about tec carbs I was trying to figure what would work and maybe cheaper.

I found an old dirt bike yesterday. It looks like a clone of a honda E22 beginner bike. It's got a good amount of parts still on it. Luckily it still had the carb and it's a dekni zp19. I tried putting it on my OH195 and it fits. It's dirty on the outside but looking at the throttle plate, it's clean and when I shake it I can hear the float moving. I haven't taken it apart yet. I was planning on trying to see if I could get my oh195 to run with it, any thoughts?

Awesome! Do you know where I can find a manual for it? I think it's missing the top cable/throttle thing? P.S. I fixed the thumbnails so now they actually work.

If you don't have the slide/needle assembly and cap you might want to keep looking. Check out ebay for knockoff engine carbs, something meant for a 100-150 cc engine would probably be appropriate(A motorcycle engine breathes a lot more). Keep in mind when you hot rod stuff like this together you should check plug color and play with jets if necessary. Slide carbs are highly tunable.

Thanks, you've been a great help. Yea, I realized that for similar sized engines their carbs were bigger. I thought tecumseh just didn't intend this motor to haul but or the other engines are more advanced. I'm hopefully going to get that carb you linked me to since I already have most of it's parts as a spare. This got me thinking, maybe I can mount this engine on that dirtbike frame. That was my original plan but after realizing it doesn't have a regular transmission I was bummed out.

Man, slideways, where do you work? We sell name brand Tec carbs for 88 and Chinese aftermarket versons for 70. As for parts or anything for 5-6.5hp Tecumseh we have a pretty decent supply or new and used parts layed up so we're good if anyone here needs Tec stuffs.

A lot of people go with tillys if you don't want a Tec carb Pots...
